Should we be entertaining selling Petr Cech to Arsenal?

Petr Cech, Chelsea legend and still one of the very best goalkeepers around at 32. Potentially Petr could play competitively into his 40's, so do we want to lose a player of this calibre to our fiercest London rivals? http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation....ing-christmas-comes-early-in-the-form-of-petr

Although over the last few years Arsenal have fallen away as potential rivals but a player of Petr's calibre could be a start of a new backbone for Wenger's side and would definitely be an improvement on the colander that have at present.

    Thoughts?

There will be no shortage of takers for his services from any of the top leagues. You could argue he's still probably top 3 in the premier league as it is.

There is an issue in that I believe his family are very settled in London and he's been a great servant for us and it's not like he was angling for a move before being dropped. In that case there is an argument that we should let Petr decide, but as fans it's difficult to accept a legend going to one of our biggest rivals.

I'd say no but it's not as cut and dry as some would have it.

Am I the only one here who is NOT enthralled with Courtois? I cringe with every shot on goal when he's playing. Not so with Cech, as I was quite confident he'd stop just about anything. Don't know if it's possible but I'd rather loan Coutois (to a European league) for another year or two and stick with Cech in the meantime. It's not like his skills have eroded over the summer. At that time we compare a then 34-yr-old Petr with a more experienced Thibault.

But definitely 'NO' to Arsenal, or any PL team.

Courtois is fine as our number one. Look at the goals he has let in recently

    Liverpoool, defelcted Can shot.

QPR, Austin deflected a shot past him.

United, saved Fellaini's point blank header and Van Persie put the rebound in.

    Palace, tap in by Campbell.

Not a thing he could have done about them goals, when he starts making high profile mistakes people can say he isn't ready.

Cech on the ther hand, the legend that he is and a good shot stopper, but he is suspect with a crossed ball. Jose made the right choice, and like he did with Cudicini, Jose knows what's best.

I would have no problem with Petr Cech going to Arsenal, except that he should be going to a Club that can win things. He has been a great player for Chelsea and a model professional. If Chelsea release him ,he should go wherever he considers the best place for his future and that of his family. He's a player, not a possession. If it's Arsenal that want him because we don't, so be it. Moving Clubs is hardly a novel thing. If Arsenal were to poach a Chelsea player, like we poached Ashley Cole, that's surely something for fans to be upset about, but a player moving because he's been released?? Give me a break. I'd like to see the man playing regularly ,if not for us, then for someone who really wants him.

Petr has been a Chelsea legend but for the right reasons is now confined to warming the bench.we are so fortunate to have such incredible talent between the sticks. However we cannot expect Petr to remain in this position while knowing that Coutois is funamentle to our future trophy hunt. Clearly we must allow him to choose his future, whoever bids for him. If it's the gooners, so be it!

I think you are to be honest!! Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world already. La Liga winner, CL finalist, established international and Ballon D'or shortlisted. It was essential for the next 10 years to put faith in him. How many fans moan about not giving youth a chance and here we are putting a 'kid' in goal ahead of a club legend because he is now better.

    Couldn't agree more.

Courtois is up there with the best I've ever seen already and he is still only a kid. Never felt so confident in a Chelsea goalkeeper. He's the nuts.

He and De Gea have been the best keepers in the league. Not sure what you've been watching.

As for Cech going to Arsenal - no way. I really couldn't see Jose doing it either as he wouldn't even let Ba go there last season. Hopefully he moves somewhere in Europe, he could quite easily play for someone like Madrid.

De Gea has been good as in reaction saves a brilliant shot stopper but Courtois is another level imo he's a good shot stopper but he also commands the area and communicates well, his distribution with his hands and feet is also good, best keeper in the PL by far.

    Funny enough I agree ;)

De Gea's performances have been more headline grabbing because United have struggled and he's kept them in games at times. He's also done well to recovery from a slow start to his premier league career. Time will however show Courtois to be the better keeper IMO.

Easily and that's not a slight on De Gea who is starting to look a good keeper but Courtois will be up there with Neuer as one of the best in the world within a few seasons.

****ing hate myself for typing that, I hate Chelsea they are ****! Pisses me off when I look at the squad at the moment!

Of all the good players we've sent off on loan to never see again, it's pleasing that at least it's worked with Courtois (whilst acknowledging we've made good money on Lukaku, De Bruyne etc). Very handy timing having had 10 great years out of Cech as well.

Courtois is in fabulous form and has stepped into the PL as if born to it. De Gea has also been great after a year or two getting up to PL speed.
Cech is in the same League as both of them and way too good to be a benchwarmer. Hope something works out for him and the Club sooner than later.

I have been preaching for well over two years that Courtois would become the best keeper in the world but now De Gea has learnst to handle the physical side it will be close between them.
Cech could extend his career by going to Spain, Real or Barca have never had a complete keeper (great shot stoppers yes) and i think he would be superb for either of them.

Agree, I think Cech would walk into 99% of teams in Europe including probably the 2 biggies in Spain now.
