This sentence shows how far weâve fallen as an international power in the game. Third goal aside, the game has been dogshit as per usual.
He's right though, a lot of people, you especially, want to be negative about England at every opportunity. Out of interest, what would be your team and/or squad if you were in charge?
I said half hour. Your frustration at us getting a penalty for Rooney getting swiped from behind after beating two men and being about to shoot, and describing that as a '****ty penalty' as though it was somehow undeserved was laughable. I don't need to have seen the first half hour to detect that you're ridiculously biased against your own national team. But that's 'cool' now I guess.
Henderson lacks quality, but he makes the right decisions under pressure and has brilliant vision. If he had the passing skill of someone like Wilshere I reckon he'd be a great player.
Why would anyone want to be negative about England? Apart from those who don't support them? Woy is not a good enough manager for the job. His tactics and mentality towards the national team seem inept. My team, acknowledging current injuries, would be: Hart Clyne Cahill Jagielka Gibbs Wilshere Milner Chamberlain Barkley Sterling Berahino/Welbeck Dawson would be in my defence if fit, as would Baines. Rooney, Smalling, Henderson, Carrick et al wouldn't be in my 23. The difference is DH, I'M NOT A MANAGER. Woy is. That's his job. And he's average at very very best. I'm not frustrated at all with us getting a penalty, why the **** would I be? It's a soft penalty. He was touched, but clipped his own heel which is when he went down ffs. People seem to ignore this sort of thing when it is their own team, but always see it when it is the opponents... You seem to be ridiculously biased against criticising your own national team, like some people are for their club. In the end, England did improve. But only a little. We still are way far off the good national sides.
That pitch was a disgrace. They hadn't even got rid of the NFL markings, never mind sorting out all massive the bare patches. Seems like every football ground where another sport is played on it ends up in that state, and we're always assured it's just a coincidence. This time it's down to weather conditions in the summer apparently. Not the NFL game of course.
San Marino drawing and getting their first clean sheet since 1993 in Estonia. Liechtenstein beat the titans of Moldova away from home. I bet there's gonna be scenes tonight
Much better in second half with Sterling playing wide right. Moved with much more pace and more direct attacking.
You wouldn't have Rooney in the squad at all? Sorry, mate, but that's the daftest thing you've said on this forum. He's our captain and best player, and I'm saying this as a person who isn't even a Rooney fan.
We haven't beaten a major footballing nation in a competitive game for over 12 years and people wonder why others are negative about England? It's not just England though, I think international football's losing it's appeal worldwide, but I've never been less interested in England than now and these last two tournaments were the first where there wasn't even a glimpse of hope with Hodgson in charge (and an ageing squad which had under-performed in it's prime). Is there anyone who looks forward to an international break?
