With hindsight now, was that season actually one to remember and cherish? Ok, we won f** all, but we actually competed with the big boys and even won big games. Also back then, Wenger really was working with a limited budget. Also, the most important thing for me anyway, was that we really played stunning football. It's been six years and I can still remember a lot of games from that season. Ac Milan away was as good as it got in terms of an all round team performance, Liverpool away in the CL despite the result was also an unreal game. I think that season was also the peak of the Premier League in terms of real quality.

Cesc Fabregas was magical and along with Rosicky and Hleb played stunning one touch football with real tempo. Eduardo was also a highlight as he was lighting up the league cup and he was starting to show his talent in the PL as well before that thug broke his leg :emoticon-0106-cryin. And as we all know, that and the result in Brum ended our title hopes. The team and manager gave me real hope that season with their football and despite not winning anything, I was proud of them that season. That team would have destroyed this current team for fun. Wenger had a clear idea of how he wanted his team to play back then, now it's a muddled mess.

We played good football and we competed with the big teams in 08, Wenger can't even achieve this anymore let alone actually winning the big trophies. If we hire a new manager, I want him give us hope again, that is all I want.

I thought I was the only one who thought this but this for me was the last Wenger team that was truly dangerous and exciting to watch. You always had that belief that we could win against anybody. We kept possession so well that I would say we had one of the best creative midfields in the world. The funny thing was it didn't cost that much money.

Its funny thst back then the criticism at arsenal back then was that we couldnt ever beat the smaller teams or handle a physical approach. Now we're said to always be bullies but never able to mix it with the big teams.

I also think in that season we should never have relied on gallas, i never really liked him and we should def never have made him captain.

I have similar feelings about this season although it also highlighted one of Wenger's key weaknesses as a manager: his unwillingness to bring in vital reinforcements. Had we brought in one or two signings in January we would have had another league title under our belts.

Yup so true, and I reckon had we won that title, with the financial restrictions we had then we would have kept a lot of the good players we then lost, and maybe been more competitive in the market

I remember being in Morocco during January and February 2007 and catching sight of an Arabic newspaper with a picture of a writhing Eduardo on the turf. I had no idea what had happended. When I left the UK in December we were flying high on on course for the title, by the time I returned in March our season had fallen apart :(

Your performance at Anfield in the league that season was the best performance I've seen. Not sure how Liverpool didn't lose.

Scary to think the 2007/08 Chelsea and Arsenal sides went trophyless, just shows how good the league was back then.
