Long term imprisoned criminals are normally released at that stage of their life to die outside the prison system. If he's 78 and wasn't deemed safe to release a few years ago, but is now, the chances are that he's got some sort of terminal illness. ESSEX GULL
Almost 50% of residents in Switzerland own a gun, it's a third most armed nation on earth. Finland is forth, Serbia is fifth, Cyprus is 6th and Sweden is 10th.
I believe Switzerland has a strange gun law because the vast majority of men between the ages of 20 and 30 are conscripted into the militia and undergo military training, including weapons training. The personal weapons of the militia are kept at home as part of the military obligations, however it is not allowed to keep the ammunition; Switzerland thus has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world. I guess they would run up to any invader hit them with the gun and shout "BANG!" Unfortunatley it has a high suicide rate as well
I know Switzerland, Finland and Norway have high gun ownership statistics; they have military conscription. European countries have far tighter gun laws than the States though. I don't have a problem with people owning firearms, in fact, I've used a rifle and shotgun before. I just find the USA's attitude to gun culture rather disturbing, and it's no surprise they have so many shootings.
Funny how often this subject comes up on here. My latest example of how screwed up it is here with guns is that one of the local fire departments has purchased one bullet proof vest for every firefighter and they are forcing their firefighters to wear them under their firefighting gear because they are afraid of people trying to shoot firefighters.
Not that odd really Ellewood, when the sad thing is they throw stones and bottles at firemen over here. So I'm sure some idiot would have a pot shot at them if they had a gun.
Ah well I take it all back then. I think they are just freaking out a little bit as the firefighters dont need vests. The news pointed out the last time a firefighter was killed on the job here by a gun was 30 years ago. I think its all because Stockton is going nuts with gun violence I think they are going to be close to 100 gun murders this year. A couple weeks ago some dude shot a cop and got away on a back road here and then the next weekend we had 2 cops killed by a guy with an AR-15. Then two days ago two people at a trailer park a few miles away from me were shot by some people who robbed them for 100 pounds of processed weed. Its just an over reaction from people who want to do something but are not in a position to really do anything about it. I think it was the town council who voted for the funding it wasnt the firefighters who asked for it.
This is what I mean though, mate. Who the f** needs an AR-15? I'd understand if people want a shotgun or even a handgun for personal protection in their home to ward off burglars, but no civilian in the United States needs a fully automatic assault rifle for 'personal use'. It annoys me when members of the NRA start blaming video games like GTA V for all of the gun-related crimes in the United States as well. Grand Theft Auto sells millions of copies in the UK whenever they bring one out, but we don't have mass shootings because people don't have easy access to assault rifles.
Like needs one as I need a hammer or a socket wrench? Well no one obviously, but it isnt a question of who needs one, its a question of having the ability to stop their sale which we dont have. As long as they are available people are going to buy them. Hell I get fliers from the local gun store every week that has unmodified ones for just a few hundred bucks. You want a new gun to add to your collection? Its a gun that isnt that expensive that is always going to be an option so it isnt that confusing why so many people buy them and why I know so many people that do have them.
I like guns, I'm planning on eventually getting a firearms licence when I can get the grounds, just as a hobbyist. I ****ing hate pigeons you see, and can happily spend all day in a field slaughtering one after another of the bastards.
Would be cheaper to buy guns for the firefighters, and then if anyone bothers them whilst doing their job they can shoot the bastards.
Are you serious the guy killed Innocent people! do they get a second chance at life no! Why should he?
