Dont think you understand how it all works.....

Population grows, so does the taxable income generated and thus the NHS will remain<ok> Anyone with half a brain would see that the changes you propose would still require a portion of the population to recieve "free" healthcare so you would still be paying out.....via your reduced taxes<laugh>

Getting shot of Scotland and NHS scotland would have helped

Agree with Terry to a point

Think if you were to stop fast food restaurants like Mcdonalds/KFC/Burger King etc then this would cause the obesity problem to go gown a lot for a start, whilst I do eat in there from time to time I admit its purely for the case of not having team to make something

That automatically helps the NHS out a lot so they can pay for more necessary operations for people who have genuine problems and not those that could of been stopped just by eating healthier

However privatisation, similar to having health insurance in America, would be devastating imo

    2018.
If the Tories get back in I can guarantee every contract/Terms n Conditions for all employees will be amended and almost all rights taken away by this year.
If you want to query this send an e mail to any NHS CEO and ask them. See what their answer is.

What about all of the schools and pensions do you honestly think we'll get enough in tax to bank roll everything. The population grows but who's going to look after the new arrivals in the future who came. Do you suggest letting more people in the country then the same thing happens again.

Your a typical left winger who wants everything provided and you haven't got a clue how to run your own life so you would rather the state ran it for you so you don't have to

I'm a lifelong Tory voter and TBH I wouldn't trust Cameron's shower not to privatise it on the QT. And contrary to popular belief amongst you trotskyist pinkos, most tories don't want the NHS privatised, me included. Even Thatcher didn't go that far!

That first bit is unfair mate as I absolutely love my fatty, unhealthy foods but I'm fit as a fiddle.

What we need is to do away with NHS funded treatment for self inflicted damage. Smoking, drinking, obesity. All these should be paid for privately. The excuse of "I pay my taxes so I'm entitled to the treatment" doesn't wash with me. That entitles you to treatment for illness, if you're involved in an accident etc. Not for self inflicted ailments.

I'm working in a private hospital at the moment and the staff members there are adamant the NHS will be privatised completely in 10 years, if the way we are currently heading continues.

The Aussies have the right common sense idea, you take out private health insurance and contributions are tax deductible, everyone else has to rely on what they call Medicare, their version of the NHS.
IMO our system is abused badly and taken for granted by the majority of people.

If the NHS was to go you would not save money as any other system costs more to run, the proportion of national income spent on health in the UK is less that other comparable countries because it is state run. If it was on an insurance basis all the evidence is it would cost more for the same level of service.

In the end only the wealthy would gain if tax was cut to allow for health to be paid for at the point of use as they would get a bigger tax reduction that you or me.

All I can assume is that the OP is after a bite as no one can really take his comments as being serious. There again he could be a 7 year old.

I've been in the casualty department on Saturday afternoon and it's full of sports injuries.
On top of that what about about all the repetitive strains for the joggers, step cranks , cyclists etc?
The health freaks are the most unhealthy group.
They should have a special tax.

Outrageous comment. Keeping fit and healthy is something everyone should try to do. If that leads to re-occuring injuries it's unfortunate. Not like stuffing yourself with calories and refusing to move off your fat arse until the day you have to roll down the stairs and into the back of an ambulance with heart disease.

No because by the time I get bored of football I will be doing the exact same thing. I don't believe that any illnesses picked up as a result of that lifestyle should be covered by the NHS though.
