Steve Bruce is reported as being ready to open contract talks for Quinn, Rosey, Macca and Bruce jnr: http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...intends-to-look-after-loyal-quartet-1-6945261
We'll never improve if we keep them. Just saying. Bruce was happy to be ruthless coming out of the Championship with guys like Evans and Simpson, so why not the same with Bruce and others? Maguire should be taking Bruce's role in the squad from next season.
If it were up to me, Quinn & Rosie would get offers. McShane & Bruce would get wished good luck in their future endeavors.
I'd definitely keep Rossy, Quinn, and Macca in that order of priority. Alex has had some very good games but seems strangely fragile injury wise and distribution is below par. Quinn I think will be hardest to sign as he wants to be in the line up on a regular basis but with Snodgrass back and Diame a key player he will be third choice at best. So probably Rossy and Macca will be back IMO.
No room for sentiment. All 4 need to see out their contracts and move on. Rosie should try and get onto Brucies staff and think more about management.
Rosie is the only one I would be disappointed to see leave, still having a lot to offer the team with his work rate and versatility. The others, although I admire there endeavour, are simply not good enough if we want to progress and improve.
Would easily keep rosie, he'd be starting if it were up to me! Quin isn't getting a look in anyway so I don't really understand why we'd keep him. Bruce and macca are useful if we keep 5 at the back as cover, but with maguire a year older I wouldn't keep both of them. If we can get someone younger/better in to replace them i'd see them both go.
I agree that we should offer Rossy and Quinny contracts, with Maguire coming through then possibly if they continue to play 3 at the back Massa might be worth keeping, as one centre half substitute is probably not enough.
The only way Brucie can justify giving his lad another contract is by giving contracts to the others as well - its actually a scandal that he's still here - has there ever been any interest from any other club in signing him except for TWS - speaks volumes
He may have to consider which division we are in next year. Not sure we are secure enough as a club and performance wise to get complacent. Contingency planning is essential.
Agree with most on here regards keeping Rosie and Quinn(50/50).Its already been stated on here already, we need to be looking to improve and the likes of Mcshane and Bruce are not the future. To be fair they always give 100% when call upon, but we cant afford to stand still in this league. It just appears to me, and I hope I am wrong that SB and city by giving these four new contracts are taking out an insurance policy just in case the worst come's about, and that there's a decent core of championship players in place.
I don't what more McShane has to do to get people on his side. He hasn't had a bad game in 2 years at least. Continuously proving people wrong, he's the next Ashbee. History will be kind to him.
Mcshane is too slow in his decision making and all-round game for the Premiership unfortunately though we ought to see what division we end up in before releasing him as he is very capable and experienced for the Championship and also deserves respect for his service to the club
