They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond England's foam.

It is about time that schools made this sort of thing a big part of history lessons. Far too many of todays youth dont have a clue what the poppy means for starters. Ignorance is bliss for many of todays young. As for all our war dead heroes ,, They gave there today for all our tomorrows. R.I.P. one and all and thank you.
Maybe so, but I think it’s people in general. I had to get on a bus the other day, near the city centre, the downstairs was crammed full of old people (60 +). I surveyed them all – one out of about forty of them had a poppy on.
I was at the Cenotaph on Sunday, a very moving and humbling experience. R.I.P. to the fallen in all conflicts and thank you.
Lest we forget. At college, all the students and teachers gathered outside whilst some music students played The Last Post. There's over a thousand kids at my college, but bar a couple of idiots, they all observed it impeccably.
But i bet they knew the meaning of the poppy. Nobody should be in any doubt regardless of if you wear a poppy or not. No excuses for our schools not teaxching everyone about the WW especially.
Broadly speaking, schools will teach about the meaning of the poppy and will have recognised today. On the other point, surely if the old people I saw know about the poppy the don't wear one because they can't be arsed, that's worse?
