Hi Matt played well in holding mid role..lasted 70 of the 80 mins as it was a tough game as Leicestershire team was a lot bigger and physical..16's play Liverpool this Saturday so hopefully he'll play then!
Chelsea 3 Fulham 2 (U18s) 95th minute heart breaker ………….. The team was: Norman, Elworthy (Opoku 84), Sheckleford, Adebayo, Edun, Adeniran (Buffonge 75), Smile, De La Torre, Kait, Redford (Humphrys 46), Walker. ”Chelsea took the lead with only four minutes played, Kyle Scott finishing off Isaac Christie-Davies’ cross to complete a sweeping team move. It was 2-0 on 15 minutes when Tammy Abraham was played in by Kasey Palmer and calmly finished from close range. Palmer saw a shot tipped wide by Magnus Norman who then nicked the ball off Abraham’s toes, while Aaron Redford tested the Chelsea keeper for the Whites. Kyle Scott sent a shot just wide after the restart and Lucas De La Torre forced the Chelsea keeper to make a superb full-length save soon after the hour mark. Defender Tomori Fikayo rattled the Fulham bar at the other end but the Whites were handed a route back into the game in the 80th minute when Walker was tripped in the box. The Fulham striker picked himself up and took the spot-kick but saw his effort saved. Stephen Humphrys was on hand, however, to bundle home the rebound. And the Whites levelled proceedings in the 84th minute. Excellent play by Jerome Opoku found DJ Buffonge. He fed Josh Walker who finished impeccably. Deep into stoppage time, Chelsea snatched the win; Jay Dasilva looping a shot from out wide over Norman from in off the far post.”

Brighton 2 Fulham 2 (U18s) Tremendous effort from the lads. The team was: Norman, Elworthy, Sheckleford (Adebayo 46), Opoku, Edun, Nabay, De La Torre, Smile (Adeniran 70), Shamsi (Buffonge 60), Humphrys, Walker. ”Brighton were on top early on and Whites defender Ryheem Sheckleford was booked for a poor challenge after 20 minutes. Fulham, though, saw strong penalty claims turned down 10 minutes before the break. The Seagulls went in front shortly after the restart when a break down the left saw a cross only half-cleared as far as a Brighton player whose shot from the edge of the box took a massive deflection on its way past Magnus Norman. Fulham levelled on 55 minutes. Jerome Opoku calmly played the ball into midfield and the resulting pass found Josh Walker who chipped the advancing keeper from the edge of the box. It was end-to-end stuff after that, with Fulham playing much better than they did in the first half. Shane Elworthy, in particular, was putting some dangerous crosses into the box. Walker had a header saved from one such delivery on 65 minutes. But when a Fulham attack broke down, Brighton countered and a cross from the left was met at the far post for a simple tap-in on 75. Brighton had opportunities to increase their lead but it was Fulham who found the next and final goal. Stevie Humphrys got down the left channel and his cross-shot squirmed underneath the goalkeeper and in off a Brighton defender on the line. Humphrys claimed it but it was an own-goal.”
Watched the last 15 minutes..pretty good game and draw was fair 16's won 4-3 ..twas very wet but a fantastic new academy complex..guess land is an awful lot cheaper in lancing!

Video clip of the goals (not brilliant quality I'm afraid but worth watching just for Josh Walker's goal) -
Fulham 0 Leicester 2 (U18s) The team was: Norman, Fossey (Sessegnon 67), Opoku, Smile, Elworthy, Adeniran (Thomas 75), Nabay, Buffonge (Thompson 75), Shamsi, Walker, Humphrys. "The Whites enjoyed the best of the first half but fell behind just before the break. Fulham enjoyed the lions’ share of possession after the break and Stephen Humphrys went close to levelling matters with a free-kick. But the Foxes increased their advantage with 20 minutes to go when Shane Elworthy’s poor clearance went straight to a Leicester player who fired home from the edge of the box. Fulham substitute Cameron Thompson hit the bar late on when his shot was tipped onto the woodwork."
Reading 3 Fulham 1 (U18s) The team was: Norman, Fossey, Edun (Sessignon 55), Elworthy, Opoku, Smile, Nabay, Adeniran, Buffonge (De La Torre 55), Humphrys, Walker "The game kicked off a quarter of an hour late due to the overnight frost but Reading opened the scoring after just six minutes through Harry Cardwell before the same player increased their advantage just after the half-hour mark. Reading then made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute through Noor Husin, but Fulham were given a chance to reduce the arrears on 80 only for the in-form Josh Walker to blaze over the bar from the penalty spot. Substitute Ryan Sessignon did find the net for Fulham in the dying minutes but it was too late for the Whites to salvage anything from the game."
Watched the end of the U18's beating Arsenal..very impressive..especially as a lot of U16's were in the team..U16's drew 3-3 and played v well too (only 3 U16's in squad with rest being 14'2 and 15's) Overall a good weekend..oh and btw mixed team of U14/15 beat Spurs 4-0 yesterday
Just discovered that the U18s are playing in the Sparkasse and VGH Cup, a five-a-side tournament being held in Gottingen. [As ever, there are no details from the Club] So far the lads are unbeaten in their League - 7-1 v SC Hainberg Scorers: Walker x 2, De La Torre, Ozcan, Adebayo and Smile x 2 3-1 v SC Gottingen Scorers: Adebayo, Elworthy and Walker 3-3 v Bayer Leverkusen Scorers: Redford Walker and Humphrys 5-0 v JFV Rhyme-Oder Scorers: Walker x 2, Edun, Norman and Redford [For the curious, that is indeed goalkeeper Magnus Norman who scored; with a brilliant left foot into the top corner] We play FSV Mainz and SC 1911 Heiligenstadt in the final League games tomorrow. Here is a website link: http://www.sparkasse-vgh-cup.de/index.php?FamSID=7&SID=7&typ=inside
We’ve played regularly in this tournament and (I think) our previous most successful time was in 2011. That year, under Kit Symons, the U18s lost on penalties in the Semi-Finals to Schalke, who went on to win the tournament. The star of our side was a certain Marcello Trotta. At the time the youngsters were heading-up the domestic League table. But ended as runners-up losing to a late goal to Everton in the play-off final. http://toffeeweb.com/season/10-11/under18.php#Fulham(a)
The lads won their two final games to top their League. 2-1 v FSV Mainz Scorers: Adebayo and Jenz (og) 3-0 v 1911 Heiligenstadt Scorers: Adebayo, Redford and De La Torre So on to the the 2nd round group stage. Which will be tough - against FC Koln and Austria Vienna, last year's winners
Unfortunately our time in the tournament has ended. We went down - 4-2 to FC Koln; and then 5-0 to Austria Vienna Well done the lads though, most of whom are U17, against tough opposition. As mentioned earlier, Vienna were last year’s winners.
