The battle between McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull could be interesting tomorrow. Really close between them today. Also Button just drew equal with KMag in their one lap battle. He hasn't won one of those in a long time.
Maybe Hamilton has always had an eye on race setup, hence why he has raced better than Rosberg. Such is Mercedes dominance that he doesn't feel the need to worry about not starting on the front row if he compromised on his quali runs for a good race setup.
Has Rosberg had problems in any qualifying sessions so far this year? I can remember Hamilton having issues on a Saturday but not Rosberg. Perhaps if he'd been able to compete properly in more races then it would have been closer. Still, I expected Hamilton to destroy Rosberg over the course of a season in qualifying, so Nico's done a lot better than I expected.
That's my view on it too, he seems to always be a bit kinder on his tyres and i notice on the onboard shots, Hamiltons car at every race just looks a bit less lively on board. Generally too, he is 1 or 2km/h down in a straight line too at most races, i honestly think he runs a turn or 2 more downforce for the race and in Quali, he know with Mercedes pace advantage, worst case (assuming no issues) he'll start second but have the better race car. Equally i think Rosberg deliberately goes for more of a Quali setup to get pole because he knows that if it's a pure battle of pace, he'll come second and have to overtake Hamilton. I honestly think he seems to believe his best chance is to start in front, stay in front at the start and try to control the race from there given his strength is generally running in clean air.
It rained over night and there is apparently rain forecast for later. That means it won't rain. Green track again though.
I've just seen something that probably explains why Rosberg broke the Quali lap record that has stood for 10 years. Button reckons these are the most powerful engines the teams have had at Interlagos, because the V8's and V10's lost 10-15% power at altitude.
The top speed they've been carrying though the main straight/curve is crazy. Nothing like the past few seasons.
