Yep, a very special player who would spend most of the game sat on a leather seat with a Southampton FC badge etched into it.

Whoopsie! I think that his close friends, who are probably looking on Saints sites now and then, haven't mentioned that the owners are basically erasing him from the history of Southampton Football Club

I await the picture of the wall with the list of names with a line of Tipp-Ex breaking up the flow of the names.

Forgive me dear little Saints fan, but I've lied so much and this contract is what I've always dreamed of. I just have to get home, unfurl it and stick it upon the main wall of my home..........over the fireplace..........next to my Portrait.

I didn't want to read the article but this morning I have. The last paragraph includes an ironic note:

"This whole journey has been remarkable really when you see that five years ago we (Lallana & Rickie) were in the bottom three in league one."

Ha ha..... Our journey just seems to be continuing better than yours And in our wildest dreams, we are second in the league, the talk of the town and improving while you go through your "transition"

I hated that sentence of his...linked himself with us, but then implied that the best way to carry on was to move elsewhere. Like that was an achievement rather than the rise of SFC. May be over sensitive, but that was the sentence that offended me the most.

As Les said, he wanted the quick route to the Champion's League.

Yep, I agree Fran. Knew I shouldn't have read it. He comes across as an arrogant t**t and I hope he is on the bench when he comes here. We can sing "He plays on the left, he plays on the right" for Dusan and "he sits on the bench" for Lallana.

Nice to see Adam's sense of humour hasn't diminished with his talent.

When it comes to ex players returning I prefer to be appreciative of their efforts for the Saints and don't get involved in the panto booing which is more reserved for the ex pompey players.
The majority of returning players in recent years have easily fitted warm reception criteria as they've either left when we had no money(Bale, Theo, Dyer) or we sold them because we bought better (Puncheon, Chappers).

but there are of course exceptions to every rule and the most disappointing thing is that the reasons have nothing to do with football. I don't know why I read this interview, perhaps I thought I might warm to the man a little bit knowing that things have worked out pretty well for us, but it was full of the usual self centred and arrogant drivel peppered with token gratitude which came across as genuine as one of his penalty appeals.

A wonderful footballer whose performances and skills were worth the ticket price, but the bloke needs a slap.

The reason Bale doesn't speak to you outside of matches is because he thinks you're a twat

I sincerely hope he had a nice restful afternoon on the bench yesterday watching his new friends get beaten.

Imagine his face when he sees he has received a gift "from all at Southampton".

    Dear Adam,

Here is a comfy cushion and one of Ron's blankets to keep you warm on Liverpool's famous bench.

    All the best,
The people you shat on on the way up.

It will warm his heart that we haven't forgotten the little people discarded on our way to the top. <whistle>

Well, it was his perception he was going up. I was just referring to the old adage about how people should be treated on the ascent...

Ron doesn't just hand out his blankets, I noticed Erwin had to make do with a tiny Lucozade Sport towel yesterday.

Really hope that SRL is at least on the bench on Feb 21, so we can all sing "There's only one Rickie Lambert" and "Rickie Lambert - goal machine", just in case Rodgers has forgotten completely.

What none of us realised at the time is that the "defectors" were actually doing Saints a massive favour by moving on and giving us the opportunity to strengthen the Club and its ambition. It was the manner of their departure that marked Lallana and Lovren as "plastic players" with just a superficial commitment to the Club and its fans.

One way to show them what we think of them could be total silence for 30 seconds and for the crowd to turn their backs on them when they run out onto the pitch before the kick off.
