To have 40% possession against Burnley is appalling. Huddlestone and Livermore aren't even a shadow of themselves from last Season. Our play began and went through them all the time and now they've decided to take permanent residence on the edge of our box, we have no midfield base going forward.
Yup. If there's to be any finger pointing right now it should be at the midfield, 40% possession and 0 chances created against bottom of the league.
Not one player has been good enough, for the wages they are on that was simply disgraceful, too many players are undroppable in our team and we have a team of incredibly one-footed players. They can play so much better but the desire and commitment isn't there.
Agree with most of the above, passing is not up to standard, but I have faith that this will improve. Better do as I've got us to win 2-1
It's all those Burnley "cucumber-pickers" like Boyd, Ings, Barnes, Marney, Vokes, Shackell. If only Burnley were playing home-grown players.
Pointing fingers at Aluko is daft when you have Huddlestone and Livermore who haven't been pulling their weight since the FA Cup Final.
Seems unfair on him though after playing him the last 3 games against quality opposition. Now was his chance. I agree about Ramirez though, in front of Aluko for me. Anyone else thought about putting Diame up front with Hernandez? Big and strong and a target.
Exactly.... our CMF are far too deep. Thudd is sleepwalking...only Diame trying to make runs. We need to push up and get the defence out of our penalty area. George Boyd looks a world beater running with the ball and threatening our goal. A player we should have kept.
Well that was cr.. Much as I want to see Ben Arfa got to say that Aluko is one of the brighter spots-not that he is brilliant at the moment. Need to do better in the second half.
Im shocked with how Livermore and Huddlestone haven't performed this season. we need to sub Jake for Ramirez
This game has looked pretty much what it is - a very mediocre (at best) Premier League side playing away at a half-decent Championship team, with their star players looking like they're not really arsed and wondering why their opponents haven't just rolled over for them. As a set of players, City have got the quality but zero heart. Burnley, conversely, have got few decent players but a lot of determination and a great team spirit. We will no doubt lose this match, and then Bruce will come out and say "I don't know what happened... too many players had an off day... blah blah blah...". All the usual crap, in other words, yet no signs that he has any intentions of changing anything. The team selection, formation and tactics so far have been poor, and Bruce alone is culpable for that. My recommendation from last week about a 4-4-2 with Robertson and Brady on the left as LB and LW would have been perfect for today. And now I'm off to chuck myself in the River Hull.
Eh? Why do people keep saying this. He picked up one loose ball in midfield drove forward but went far too wide and couldnt out pace a big lumbering centre half and had his shot well blocked. That was it.
Livermore for £8 million is staggering. Up there with Bullard & Olofinjana in terms of our **** transfers. I'd take Meyler or Quinn over him right now.
Disagree with Livermore quote, per game he puts more running in than anyone in the squad, but today no he hasn't. I can't see why we don't just get balls in the box, everytime we don't even run the channels, the ball gets passed backwards
If you were to rate player performances in that first half are you seriously suggesting Aluko would be a 'weak link' you'd pick out?
Meyler runs about just as much without costing £8 million and poncing around in his Lambo (I concede that the second half of that is irrelevant, I just think he's been appaling since probably February last year).
Half time - bottom of the league, winless Burnley 0 v Hull City 0 Burnley 60% possession. Hull City attempts on target 0. I can see a few changes the second half. I bet Brucey gives them some stick.
