So, I was lucky enough to be one of five fans to get the golden ticket to the chocolate factory, as it were. I decided upon getting home tonight to make sure to write it down in depth now, so as to not miss the details I want to include. The photographs really can't do the building justice, it really is amazing and it was quite an honour to be in attendance. Anyway, due to the level of detail - I couldn't fit it into a forum post, so here's a link to a blog I've done on the evening. I hope you all enjoy and find it of interest. http://connorarmstrong.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/an-evening-at-staplewood-tour-of-markus.html DTLW
My goodness you got some detail down in there, DTLW. Did you take notes, or did you have the smartphone on audio record..? Never in my life have I had the facility to retain so much data told to me only once. Perhaps it's the fact that you surround yourself with Saints [as we all do more or less] that helps. But well done indeed. A very good and informative read, by the way.
Excellent DTLW. Thank you. I love the mention of how Katharina realised how much her father meant to Southampton; for a long time it felt that she/they didn't want his name emblazoned anywhere. Nice that she has allowed them to do what they have done as he is that important to us and afterall, she has sat and listened to us singing his name every week. Interesting that Chambers stayed in the 'other' dressing room; I wonder if that annoyed him or his father. The swimming pool bit is cool too; I liked that part on the video and the "progression" design throughout that shows you the pathway to the top. Excellent. I wonder if the Black Box room has a part to play in Corkie not having a new contract yet? I wonder if there are a shed load of players who appear "better" than Corkie on paper/screen and Ronald is having a very good look at him. I can believe that could be the case, but hope they don't ignore the less measurable attributes, such as fitting in, personality, etc, etc. Thanks again DTLW, great read.
I want to know why Pelle wasn't on their list when he has turned out to be so successful...system not flawless then (not that any system is).
He wasn't? I thought that in the video the head of recruitment mentioned they already had Pelle on their list when Koeman indicated he wanted him.
To clarify. Saints had records and data on Pellè, but that's different to being 'on the list'. Koeman was the driving force for Pellè's move.
I know he said Tadic was on the list. It may have been Pelle's age that didn't quite fit the profile.
Brilliant read dtlw. I was very impressed with Jose holding open the doors. Something small but says loads. COYS
Brilliant stuff DTLW. The club should appoint you "Not606 Liaison Officer" so you get the inside track on lots more stuff. Thank you, I almost felt I was there in person.
