Would be good to see Rosicky instead of Cazorla, and if it could perk Santi's ideas up then even better! I was undecided between having Oxo or Walcott in to be honest. Unfortunately I'm going to miss the game again as I'll be entertaining some lesbians at my house... (though entrainment will probably consist of polite conversation, tea and Disney movies, as their my fiancee's best friend who's newly engaged to her girlfriend)
I'd be tempted to start Podolski. He looked on fire on his cameo against Burnley. -----------------------Szczesny---------------- -Chambers--Mertesacker--Monreal--Gibbs- ----------------Arteta-------Ramsey---------- -Chamberlain-----------------------Podolski- ------------Sanchez-------Welbeck----------- I've given up on Wenger playing Chambers at CB with Bellerin at RB, so I guess Monreal will start. Flamini should be benched. Arteta was better, and with Ramsey on we look much more of a threat. It might look quite attacking, but we are playing Anderlecht at home. Set us up to attack and we will win.
I was just about to say the same about Podolski. I'd be tempted to start him too. but I think Wenger will start with Sanchez on the left and either Oxo or Walcott on the right. I'd keep Santi in the middle, I know his form has been poor, but this is a game where he could dominate and restore some confidence. Would like to see Welbeck get on the score sheet tomorrow to boost his confidence too.
Well we did lose the last time I went (Saints in the Cup). But I prefer to blame my mate for that, as it was his first ever Arsenal game.
Last couple of games Sanchez has been given a free role as the 2nd striker (dropping deep, running wide, running past Welbeck). His incredible work rate allows him to do this. Cazorla has been mostly on the left, roaming inside whenever we have the ball, but is just not as effective. Plus his shooting boots have been missing for a while now. Give Podolski a chance to hammer a few shots in.
The fact we put in one of the worst defensive displays you are ever likely to see in the first game against this lot, and we still somehow won, tells you all you need to know about the quality of the Belgium side. we should put them to the sword. I expect us to batter them out of sight.
I believe Anderlecht have only lost 3 games in their last 29. The losses were against Borussia, Arsenal & Standard Liége. It will still be a bad night's work if we fail to take max points, but they are not the complete mugs some would suggest they are.
