He probs would do well at City because they won't be stupid enough to play him for 90 mins, week in week out, or put him in a position which is crucial to successful teams. Let him do a Lampard - play the last 15 mins, in an attacking position, full pelt.
The problem withour midfield is that a) Gerrard is sh*t at protecting his defence and b) allen and henderson are too workmanlike. These 2 problems were ok last season because we had a world class attack. This season, we have no attack - they need support from the midfield, they need players driving forward with the ball. Henderson and Allen are good at pressing and keeping possession with short sharp passes, but they need to be carrying the ball forward. This is why we need Can or Coutinho in that position because they can do this to support the attack. It's as if our midfield is so far away from the defence, and so far away from the attack. It's bizarre.
He isn't intelligent in the slightest, he runs after the ball like playground football. I think we missed out not going after that Swiss bloke, however I think Moreno can become very good, just needs work defensively.
I would definitely preferred Ricardo Rodriguez but I feel Moreno is a top talent. He has a made a couple of mistakes this season but not as many as Skrtel and Lovren have. And re. the goal in the Newcastle game, at least he rushed back to get to the ball, whilst Lovren was in no mans land.
Reality is we don't have one, one, world class top top player in our side. For the last few seasons we've had two, our main striker, Torres/Suarez and Gerrard. Now we've not got the world class striker and Gerrard is pretty much cooked, certainly wouldn't walk into the first team of the big clubs in the biggest leagues (that's what I'm talking about by 'world class' - coveted by and would walk into the best Champion's League teams). Closest we've got are Sturridge - who is frankly and literally broken and still unconvincing in his potential world classness as he's had just one stand out season - and Sterling, who is a kid. The rest of our players on paper and from the evidence provided on the pitch are varying gulfs away from that level.
Not really. I'm a realist. It was always going to be difficult this season but nor am I going to start lambasted all our players after a few poor results. what's next? Brod out threads...? PS...****off Gonzo
Agree - we don't have the focal point who can shoulder the responsibility. Gerrard can do it but he doesn't have the quality anymore to deliver. Suarez would take all the responsibility and pressure on his shoulders, which allowed the youngsters, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho to thrive.
I think that thread should be bumped, the Deadwood and Ghosttown threads are just the same conversations.
no the ghosttown thread is laugh at uir... its not my fault that lads foolishly let tobes guide the conversation away from laughing at a gobshite move made by UiR.
you are right. It's turned into a debate with diego if anything which says it all. I just wanted to see if UiR would admit being a little quick to wum two weeks in a row now.
One of eight that have been commented on so far today and its only 10.04am. thats more than Man Utd get in a week (ignoring matth of course)
