The goal was Jak's fault. The back pass was poor but regardless, the clearance was woeful. Other than that he was generally OK, but don't anyone kid themselves. He cost us the game.
The back pass wasn't great, but a Premier League keeper should deal with that better. People need wake up to fact that Jak will make a gaff every few games. But not only he clearly doesn't install confidence in the defence.
s**t backpass. Equally s**t clearance. Excellent return from them. Lack of any resemblance of reaction from our midfield to the s**t clearance.
The back pass was bad but the clearance was diabolical. Yes, the ball came from a tricky angle for a keeper who is completely right footed, however it was awful decision making by Jak to hit the ball weakly down the centre with his left foot rather than clearing it out for a throw in with his right. I can't understand how anyone can think he's better than Harper, let alone McGregor. He's a good shot-stopper and on occasion has made some brilliant reflex saves, however the fundamental qualities of his game clearly aren't there; his handling, communication and decision making are all League 2 standard.
I just remembered that other time McShane was chasing a loose ball with an attacker behind and Jak flew off his line to collect it, yelling at McShane to clear it, who left it and left it whilst Jak stood just inside his box not doing anything. McShane finally cleared it just as the attacker nearly stole it off the pair of them. I assume that's what Jak was shouting and McShane was just being a **** to show him up, that has to be what happened, right?
Crap clearance almost a pass .. shortly after that he comes running out, stops then is in no mans land, lucky for us long put the header wide ., he seems to want an age when receiving back passes, has no presence in the box and is an accident waiting to happen .. not good enough I'm afraid
Brady's backpass wasn't great but a goalkeeper under pressure should kick the ball into the stand or far and high. Jak also misjudged the situation before the Long header. Otherwise Jak was good. But in the Premier League one mistake can cost you the match and it did today.
can someone explain why we keep passing the ball back to the keeper just for him to hoof it anywhere and to anyone - why doesn't the defender just hoof it instead - **** tactic and just puts pressure on the keeper
I'd love to see the statistics for forward/sideways/backwards passes. I'm sure we would do more backwards passes than most clubs.
