The buys have been so poor so far.

I see Southampton have won again. 10 wins out of 11 !

How do you explain this ?

We take the best players out of their squad and they lose their highly rated manager to spurs. They spent much less than us in the summer. Yet they are doing better than us.

    Their manager>>>ours ?

    Or /and.

    Their buys >>>> ours?

    Any other plausible explanation???

Saints have a point to prove and everything about koeman suggests he only works well with a siege mentality.

The reason is very simple: better replacements of the players sold- lambert, Lallana, lovren, shaw have all been properly replaced. Unlike us.

I'm sure that must be it. Can't possibly be that we bought well and have a good manager.

The siege mentality shouldn't be overlooked. It worked for liverpool last season, in 2009, united used it in the 90s, chelsea under mourinho. Us v them sort of thinking riles players up and saints were written off pre season so koeman has used it to his advantage.

The players brought in have done well of course. Better than who they replaced? Too early to say really.

But Southampton still had good players, Wanyama was coming back this season, Ward-Prowse, Clyne and Scheinderlin were still there and are good players. The only worry was the new people coming in and if there good enough. Clearly they are and they're playing with freedom with the low expectations of this season.

Many were tipping them for relegation though, so wouldn't that have added some pressure at least? I also remember similar situation when Koeman went to manage Valencia and it was a disaster. I was expecting something similar again tbh.

More than anything I think it's a case of confidence gaining momentum. They're a good team and when you're winning you can't help winning. How they respond to their next defeat or two may tell us more about just how good they are.

It is very worrying - mainly because of the fact that Rodgers is doing the same things over and over again and isn't getting the message.

    - Do not play Mario as a lone striker
    - Play the diamond
    - Get Sterling in the middle
    - Get Coutinho into the midfield 3
    - Drop Johnson
    - Drop Lovren/Skrtel

He needs some actual experience around him - Marsh, Pascoe, who the f*ck are they? Get some proper coaches around him.

Re. Southampton - we didn't take their best players. Their best players are Clyne, Wanyama and Schneiderlin.

Lovren was carried by Fonte and the 2 midfielders in front of him.
    Lambert is an oaf.
Lallana - he was one of their best players.

And the worst thing of all - these are the players that were supposed to come into the first team and add experience. These are the players who are supposed to take us to the next level.

And these were Rodgers's targets - absolutely waste of money for players who are not better than what we already have.

    Re Southampton

Had good base, kept sneiderlin for example... However do not mistake good form for long term success, when the games lay on thick they will lose a couple players and fall away

    But

Lfc are toast, this is only going to end one way now and lfc fans better wake up and see it

Totally agree, I'm fed up with sideways passing eventually going back to Migs, when they try getting past halfway they give the ball away. Absolutely have nothing going forward. Clueless.
