    Here's a couple of interesting comparisons for people to consider.

    #1

    Over the past 3 seasons Carroll has made 86 club appearances and has scored 35 goals.
    Over the past 3 seasons Ba has made 86 club appearances and has scored 35 goals.

    Quite an astonishing similarity! One cost £35m, the other was free. Both are as 'injury prone' as eachother. The Bundesliga is tougher than the Championship (where more than half of Carroll's goals come from).

    Over the past 3 seasons Nolan has made 113 appearances, scored 31 goals and had 10 assists
    Over the past 3 seasons Cabaye has made 129 appearances, scored 25 goals and had 24 assists.

    Whilst the French league is weaker than the English First Division, 18 of Nolan's goals came in the weaker Championship. Cabaye has yet to hit his prime, Nolan has arguably past it.


    Discuss and remind me why people are worried about losing our 'two topscorers'?

    im not worried at all id rather have younger players for the future and build rather than have older players and not achieve any thing and see no progression.

    Im looking forward to seeing the team build over the next few years

    I did a little research yeah, thought 3 seasons was a fair timescale considering Carroll's age and the fact Nolan's form was horrible towards the end of his Bolton days, otherwise the comparisons would have been just cruel.

    good stats,but i would of wanted another quality striker to go with andy carroll so heres hoping we do get another quallity striker to go with ba

    The international transfer window isn't even open yet so there's no need to use the past tense. By the sounds of things we have been targetting some pretty solid strikers, no luck yet but we've got another two months to go. What my stats indicate that any signings from here on in are only going to improve our squad from last year, we're not playing 'catchup' as some people may suggest. <ok>
