With most of our senior pros returning at last from injury and suspension, the time is now right for them to put in an extra big shift to pay back the fans and the club for the season so far. Loft and Mcglashan especially who were brought in to replace Whelps and Lee in the summer, have not come across to date. McGlashan (no goals?) and Loft's rare availability have disapointed much to date. Loft, who will now have the support of Doughty in midfield, has a lot to prove. There have been many comments about the lack of ability of the youngsters, but I suggest it is now time for the seniors to show them the way.
I need to see much more of McGlashan but sadly at the moment I'm not inspired and that is a real disappointment. I know we beat the Posh but the way he was outpaced by was it Anderson or Washington, just rang alarm bells with me. Since then i've not been able to take my eye of his movement and what i'm seeing is not good early signs. I really hope i'm wrong and the lad settles in and makes his mark.
Loft has suffered an injury and more recently a suspension (after a reckless challenge) but in the games I've seen he has generally shown a lot of promise. McGlashan needs some decent balls for his speed to work, play it at him, behind him, 30 yards in front of him and you lose his strongest asset his speed, he needs the ball played 5 yards in front of his run so he can reach the ball in full flight. The other use for McGlashan would be to leave him up front when defending corners or free kicks as his speed would again be useful, Norriss, Cody, Kedwell are all to slow for a long clearance to become an attacking weapon.
The problem is that, as I'm sure you're aware, Taylor will only adopt such a tactic after we're at least 1 goal behind.
So, Payback time has begun! Debut goals for Mcglashan and Loft....let's have more please Fighting performance by the ten men, despite Gillingham's bogeyman Izale Mcleod trying to spoil the party! Orient will be quaking in their boots UTG!
