Town take on Chelsea for the first time in I think 11 years. Town have made good progress getting back to winning ways in the last four league games and are currently unbeaten at home. Chelsea are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season. Town might have a glimmer of a chance due to them playing Manure on Sunday evening so will see some or many changes to their squad.

Shrewsbury have won all three League Cup games this season 1-0, with all three wins coming against sides in higher divisions.
Chelsea have won 13 and lost none of their last 15 League Cup games against lower ranked sides; a run that goes back to 1999.

Shrewsbury have Lawrence fit, Weso had a tight groin on Saturday so got taken off, he might be fit for Tuesday. Mangan should also be available for selection. Chelsea have Azpilicueta and Ivanovic suspended but midfielder Ramires might be available after five weeks out with a groin problem. Costa had flu and might well get game time as Chelsea are short on strikers!

Chelsea will want to win this as they have been fined £25k for getting six yellow cards in one game. So we hope it's an enjoyable game on Tuesday no on expects us to win , but Goldson is 50/1 to be first goal scorer if you fancy a punt. If we do get through somehow then lets hope we get a proper real football club in the next round.

Floreat Salopia, and a pint of Special Mon if we win.

I am flabbergasted by Sky's pre match report this morning. Question to Mellon - Tell me how much you admire Mourinho. Question to Demitrou - Tell me how much it means to you to face the club you support Chelsea. NO attempt to give us any credibility as a football team. Then a couple of comments from 'expert' Souness apparently bemoaning the fact that lower league sides are no longer allowed to kick the top sides out of a game. Has he ever even seen us play? Presumably not as then he would know we are about trying to play passing football rather than kicking the other team off the pitch. I was initially glad we were the live game but if Sky cannot do better than this patronising rubbish I wonder whether it is worth it.

Just seen the scoreline and looks a bit unlucky for you Shrews. Having also just read the above comments before posting can I ask, are you really surprised at Sky being patronising to a lower league club? They only show lower leagues because they think it's a duty like buying a poppy in November. No idea why but just that you ought to. Football stops at the lower end of the Premier league as far as they are concerned. If it wasn't for the fact that we get a few quid out of the TV money and none of us can afford to refuse it, I would love to tell them to Foxtrot Oscar having shoved their camera up the rear end.

Not sure about a shoe in for promotion however Ron.......(got to post something rivalry wise)

The 2-0 win over Man City was pretty special. They had ten internationals that day.....in the days before it was as prevalent as now!
Whatever happened to the special Town near post corner....think it may well work if resurrected!

Watched last night in pub.....landlady stopped the quiz to tell people Town had scored.....and that's in a pub by Derby University!!!
    Proud of the lads.
