Its probably a good time for Robbo to have a break, young lad keep him fresh etc etc so I'd play Brady but if this was a life depended on it game then Robbo all day every day. It'll become like the I'd play rosy instead of Elmo at RB on here when Brucey picks Elmo every time.

Brady put in a fantastic defensive shift against Liverpool and I'd keep him in there against Southampton and the other top-6 teams with Robertson getting the nod against the less threatening lower teams. I'd actually like to see them both in the starting line at some point. It makes sense to give Robertson another weeks rest to get fully fit so Brady for me.

After Saturday, it's Brady for me. I'd like to see him attack more and take people on though.

Well Bruce has already said that Brady is starting so the only question is where he plays. Personally I'd play Brady in HBA's position and Robbo at LWB, then you can bring on Ben Arfa late on to pull apart the defence.

Speaking of left backs anyone know how Joe Dudgeon's doing at Barnsley?

352 really works for us. Why people want to square peg other players based on a dilemma for a left back slot which is not even needed in the first place due to the success with wing backs.

Agree Brady could be an option playing off the striker. Ramirez will miss out so guess Ince might make the bench for this one. For this game i don't think you can drop Brady though.

You have to reward players who put in a good shift so it has to be Brady. Robertson won't die if he misses another game or two and him coming off the bench with fresh legs could be useful for the last 15 minutes pinging in crosses after beating tired legs ...

Last I heard the loan had been extended. I'm glad he's still with us. I know it was only pre-season but looked class v Real Betis

Chester had to wait to regain his place. Same should apply for Robertson.

Depending on how the opposition lines up, there could be a case for trying a 3-4-3 shape in some games. Robertson LWB, Brady LF. Everyone's a winner.

Would also give more opportunities for Ben Arthur, Ramirez, Ince and Aluko to play in more familiar roles.

    Something like this...

My two faves, so i'm not voting.

I would like to see them both fit in, with Brady in the HBA role.

Also, although i'm pro-352, a formation with Rosie+Elmo and Andy+Brady could definitely be a huge threat to opposition teams. eg:

    -------------Jak-------------
    Rosie Chester Davies Robertson
    ----Livermore Thudd Diame----
    Elmo-------Hernandez----Brady

The more I look at that, the more I like it. I've said all season that our main strengths are the wingers, this gets them all in, with even more attacking license/ability to swing balls into Hernandez who we know is capable of heading it into the net.

I like the 352, but the available personnel right now doesn't suit it. Why play Bruce as a 3rd CB when we've got loads of good attackers on the bench.

It'll be the same team as Liverpool I'm sure, but I'd like to see something like:

    Jakupovic
    Elmo Chester Davies Robertson
    Huddlestone Livermore
    Ben Arfa Diame Brady
    Hernandez

Seems daft to me if Ben Arfa is gonna be wasted up, same way we always waste the likes of Aluko and Ince by playing them up front.

Ha. It just happens that today's topics are about our most over rated player, someone who has never done anytjing apart from being born to Paul Ince, and our least reliable player.

All we need now is for someone to say that David Meyler would always make a good decision on the ball in one goal lead in last minute situations.

Brady can't hold a stick to Robertson.

Just out of interest, were you at Anfield on Saturday? Because if you were I can't believe you wouldn't have been impressed with Brady's very accomplished performance. He was almost exclusively responsible for shutting Sterling out of the game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm, like most others, a big fan of Robertson but I do feel that Brady has fully earned the right to start against Southampton after his performance on Saturday.

One (something) doesn't make a summer. Maybe he does deserve to play based on last week but my opinion of him is rooted in watching him the last few years, not one game.

Now obviously that has to apply to Robertson too, who we've only seen a few times, but everything I've seen of him- pace, passing, positional sense, crossing, the lot- has been a class above Brady. He's come from Scottish div3 via one season in SPL and his decision making is streets ahead of Brady's. It's not even a question in my mind.

If he wants a rest then fine. As long as it's a one off.

Re. Marking out Sterling- yes- he man-marked him. What else did he do? Who's he going to man-mark this week?

Bear in mind it's very likely we'll see Brady v Robertson in a few weeks in the Ireland v Scotland game.

Brady for me. He was not only exceptional in defence - frankly better than any defensive display from Robertson thus far, as far as I can recall - but was also very creative at times.
Lest I be misinterpreted, I also am a big fan of Robbo and he will no doubt get better and better but I think it's important to acknowledge that the same is true of Brady, in that he has improved out of sight and brought an excellent attitude into last weeks match. He deserves another start this week.
