Hello to all Chelsea fans - the whole county of Shropshire is looking forward to Tuesday. You will not know a lot about us but we are quite useful at home (played 10 in League and League Cup and won 9 and drawn 1 Goals for 21 Goals against 3). We play 3-5-2, try to keep it on the floor (though that is not always possible in League 2) have a couple of decent young players (Goldson and Woods) and most of our players have experience of playing at League 1 level at least. We have an awesome Swiss keeper (Leutwiler) who rarely leaves his line and a 6 foot five inch centre-half (Grandison) who will head balls out all day long.Clearly we have not played anyone this season remotely in the class of your team (or even your second team) but we do not expect to be humiliated so I would not bet on a cricket score if I was you. It looks like your team will be winning most things this season so could you be kind and share a bit of the glory with us?
Best of luck Tuesday mate, I don't think it'll be a cricket score, think we'll win 4-2! Our team will probably be something like Cech Ake-Zouma-Cahill-Luis Schurrle-Baker-Ramires-Salah Drogba-Solanke
Thats a very nice post greenhouse. We seem at Chelsea to have a large proportion of opponents on this board who want to give us a hostile reception when we are about to meet. For me , our meeting on Tuesday will be more about blooding a few of our promising youngsters and hoping they do well rather than anything else! Good luck to you and I hope you enjoy the game! I cant be there for this one as I'm babysitting my grandchildren!
Not sure Drog will play 3rd game inside a week. Maybe Mikel in for him and stick to the same formation.
good luck Chelsea, shame about the result but you will bounce back. we have a great squad and a terrific manager, blackpool, Leicester away and Norwich city all took our little Shropshire club for granted, I am sure smiler mourhino will have had us watched, a special ale has been brewed to celebrate the game. Woods Blues and Amber recognising both clubs. we wish Chelsea the same luck as we wish ourselves, apologies for the banter it has been fun as will the result be. keep practising penalties in case. Floreat Salopia! latin for let Shrewsbury Flourish.
ancient names for shrewsbury were pengwern, sciropsberie, salopesbury, shrozebury.. so salop is an abbreviate for both county town and county. kings and queens in medieval days held their court in shrewsbury to escape the stench of London, prior to drains. Floreat Salopia, enjoy our medieval town and pubs, also enjoy special beer brewed for both clubs by Woods Brewery. "Blues and Amber" a nice thought.
Do you really have a player called Knight-Percival? Marvellous. The Capital One Cup isn't quite the Holy Grail, but 'tis indeed a noble quest, forsooth.
Ealing Blue, Yes - we have Nathaniel Knight-Percival. A true defender of the Faith formerly of the good parishes of Peterborough and Histon. Looking forward to the jousting tomorrow.
no Sir lancelot Spratt an eminent Surgeon in Doctor in the House has passed on but we have 3 clinical strikers, one james Collins opened the scoring at the emerites 3 or 4 years ago in the league cup. oh yes Shrewsbury town may be the back of beyond but we are used to Giants!
Would a game like this be classed as your biggest game this year? Or is a crunch league tie still more important?
Alas poor Histon, I knew him well, hath fallen from grace and now is a shadow of his former self, languishing in the depths of evo-stick, from which is seldom reinquished from a sticky end.
yes this our biggest game of the season against premier club giants, but is no where as important as Dagenham and Redbridge away on Saturday. at 7pm live on BBC 2 we find out who are opposition is in the FA cup. At present our manager and squad are totally focussed on how we proceed to the quarter finals of the Capital one cup, against a giant and rightful leaders of the premier league, we fear no club but we respect.
Nice article; http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport...8/towns-chelsea-fan-will-love-this-cup-clash/ Expecting a good game here. Come on Chelsea.
Missed the Game but see Shrewsbury played exceptionally well. Great team and a great town, and obviously well supported. Hope your season is successful and keep enjoying your teams play.
