A significant game of footie today at The New Den, for a resurgent bluebirds.... a win could see us move into a lofty position with intent. A defeat would knock the wind out of our sails and set us back a tad. Plenty of options available in team selection, but after two good wins against teams in the top six, more of the same please! TEAM NEWS Ian Holloway's Millwall will be without Alan Dunne (suspension). Mark Beevers and Danny s**ttu (Achilles) are both fit again but Mathias Ranegie (hamstring) and midfielder Nicky Bailey (calf) are still sidelined. Dennis Wise likely to start after a lengthy spell. Aww!......come on Sparkey...yesterday's joke pal! Look if you want to make people laugh, try this "What's sticky and sings...Gluey Armstrong".....get it?
Love Saturdays. Bets placed. City Live on TV. First beer around mid day. Cant fault it. 3 points will make the beer all the better later.
What a difference two games make .... What if Noddy had not been in charge and Ole returned to take over from Scott & Gabs Basing the results as losing both games 1-0 (not even worse case scenario) this is how the league would look today BUT IT'S NOT and we are all feeling quietly confident again 1 Derby 13 13 26 2 Watford 13 11 25 3 M'boro 13 7 23 4 Wolves 13 5 23 5 Nottm Forest 13 11 22 6 Norwich 13 10 22 7 Charlton 14 1 22 8 Bournemouth 13 6 21 9 Ipswich 13 8 20 10 Blackburn 13 -1 19 11 Brentford 13 -1 19 12 Sheff Wed 13 -0 18 13 Rotherham 13 -3 16 14 Leeds 13 -3 16 15 Huddersfield 13 -6 16 16 Reading 13 -8 15 17 Millwall 13 -3 14 18 Fulham 14 -6 14 19 Cardiff 13 -2 13 20 Wigan 13 -2 12 21 Brighton 13 -3 12 22 Birmingham 13 -8 11 23 Bolton 13 -13 8 24Blackpool 13 -11 6
I was Sparks...what did you think of it pal? City line up: Marshall, Fabio, S. Morrison, Manga, Brayford, Pilkington, Whittingham, Gunnarsson, Noone, Le Fondre & Macheda Subs: Moore, Connolly, Gabbidon, Ralls, R. Morrison, Daehli & Maynard
We are poor. Can't retain possession and Le Fondre missed two easy chances although Forde did make an excellent double save. It's a scrappy old game.
Back to the drawing board. s**ttu was immense, literally. City forwards were ****tu scared of him. Strong physical Millwall side. Need a convincing win at home against Leeds now.
Need a strong man in the middle of the park. Not blaming Ralls for the loss but he is no Gunnar and Gunnar is not the greatest. Need to get Dikgacoi fighting fit...................if possible.
Looked as bad today after Le Fondre missed those early chances as we did against Middlesbough a few weeks back - not a clue how to get the ball through from front to back unless we lumped it. In the first half Pilkington was playing as another right back alongside Brayford and that left us short of outlets for Whitts who was virtually anonymous for an hour. We could hardly string two passes together until the last 10 minutes. The lack of movement from players without the ball was a bloody disgrace. I thought going up there to keep a clean sheet was the best policy but not at the expense of basics like being able to pass the ball to one another. A disjointed effort from the side until Ravel came on for Macheda - only then did we start to play with any fluidity. Maynard for Le Fondre was a waste of time in that setup - Daehli would have caused them more problems for the last 30 minutes. We had no one available up front who could face down and challenge s**ttu and Co when it was launched forward - we should have tried to play it through them, not over them. Brayford played really well again except for his stupid attempt at shooting when he had better options, but Manga was again head and shoulders above anyone else in the side and picked out some lovely passes out of defence once he'd done his main job. If we don't go up he'll be gone in the summer.
Good game - ****tu was quality. Was expecting Cardiff to run us ragged after your last 2 results but was pleasantly surprised that we were actually the better team - Forde made a world class save, but we missed a couple of sitters too. Only 800 Cardiff fans - poorest turnout I can remember from you - I remember when this used to be a big game for both sides
Got exactly what we deserved from that game. We made a hard working but very limited side look good. Best squad in the championship?
Hoofing the ball forward played into s**ttu's hands Geezer. As I said earlier the guy was immense today. You must be glad of his return. Poor turnout at your gaff because City fans fear for their safety. You need to get more safety rails up. We can fall over quite easily.
