Cracking racing today, little ew lucky 63 on Red Merlin 2.00 Aintree, Kilfinichen Bay 4.15 Aintree, Minella On Line 2.25 Chepstow, Steps 3.15 Doncaster, Red Galileo 2.20 Newbury and Burano 3.30 Newbury. Best of luck to all.
4.50 Aintree Golden Hoof-5/1 Brother to the highly talented Oscar Hoof but two different horses. This guy looks a serious chaser in the making made a very good chasing debut last yr when 2nd to Rum and Butter then nto can be forgiven when beaten when favourite but he has to step up to win but from the looks of him last year if he has filled out a little more he will be a very good chaser indeed

Morning Stick! That must have been Toronto 40 - BC 23? Certainly the wrong result! Beautiful city, Vancouver, actually it's where I wanted to live but I was in the oil business and no jobs for me there, so it had to be freezing (most of the time!) Alberta. Owe Canada a lot though, taught me my trade. Thought I knew a bit when I went there being ex. 'UK Big Oil' but I knew bugger-all in reality (yeah, I know, haven't changed!). Yes, they were good days, know a lot of the places you no doubt travelled through with your 'MobileHome', especially west of Calgary. But after nearly 8-years. I had had enough of the savage Winters (don't ask me how in hell I survived, bloody miracle, could tell you some stories but you'd never believe them so let it be!), so returned home to balmy Europe! Also, racing was not so good in Calgary and Edmonton, but it was all we had, short season too.
Afternoon All. Today's lucky 15. Newbury,2-20.Sky Hunter.(Nap) Aintree,3-00.Rolling Aces. Chepstow,3-35.Vicente. Doncaster,3-50.Snoano. Good luck to all.
Two more failed Godolphin imports – both gelded now – go to post for the St Simon Stakes and it would not be a surprise if Sky Hunter proved good enough to collect a mediocre prize. Little confidence in that selection. It is hard to summon up any enthusiasm for today’s Doncaster card. The Racing Post Trophy does not look like a vintage renewal and there looks to be every reason to expect that it will be exported across the Irish Sea by maiden Jacobean (seven previous wins for Ballydoyle) at the expense of ‘form’ horse Elm Park (suspicion that the Royal Lodge was not a good race – again). If it wins impressively, will the trainer keep his trap shut? Perhaps the bet to be looking at does not have four legs but twenty two – Real Madrid to win El Clasico this evening. Could put the winnings on Chelsea at Old Trafford tomorrow – no strikers needed to beat the hosts’ porous defence.
4.45 Chepstow Valdez 4/1 Has a mark of 152 but with Tom Bellamys 5lb claim, effectively runs off 147. Whenever a horse like this is top weight or high in the weights, the first question is 'can they run to that mark?' and second is 'can anyone else in that field?'. He jumps for fun and ran really well in the Arkle over 2m last year, beaten 7L. I think he can run up to form today and any improvement from last year will seal a victory. 3.00 Aintree Rolling Aces 7/1 Just think fresh is the time to catch this horse and he is usually a very good jumper. Only Boston Bob could stay on strongly enough to get past him here in April and hopefully he'll give it a right good go again.
At the moment, the only way that San Francisco will be going to the Superbowl in 2015 is if they buy tickets. They may not even make the playoffs going on current form. In receipt of just a four point start, the Falcons do not look like a ‘home’ underdog bet as the Lions appear to have all the weapons on offence. Both teams have a bye next week so they will presumably have plenty of time to do the London tour bus next week before heading back across The Pond. Have fun at Wembley – it certainly won’t be a cheap day in the capital!
Little e/w snifter on Wizards Bridge in the opener at Chepstow - Alflora gelding so he should appreciate more juice in the ground today and his bumper 3rd wasn't half bad form at all. Will need to have come on from his hurdles debut but entirely possible he will do.
Well done to AOB and Ryan Moore on their success in Australia. Great training performance and another group 1 for a master. Great ride from jockey, big improvement on last outing on this horse.
Hawk High showing his Fred Winter win was no fluke - good to see Trevor Hemmings with a nice young horse on his hands. Probably done his handicap mark now though ................
That's one of the things that gets me about jump racing Harbottle. It's hard enough to pick a winner on the flat, but when they have to jump over stuff as well, it all starts to look a little ridiculous.
you should've seen that race at Wexford just now Cyc - first 2 fell at the last fence. At least they all got up
