Fair enough. Was gonna say, I'm 25 and watched him plenty but then I was into football from really young.

  2. Same. I was only ten when Rob Jones started his Liverpool career, he retired when I was 18 but he'd hardly played for the last few years because of injury. however, I can remember him quite clearly. Might be slightly different for me here though because I've played RB quite a lot myself and you tend to favour players that play the same position when you're younger.

As for Finnan, I find it really difficult to leave him out any Liverpool select XI for my time period. He is the most consistent performer and the best crosser with his wrong foot I've seen in a red shirt!

Main thing I remember from him is him cutting back on the right and swinging it in with his left!

  4. I'm assuming you mean Finnan there since he did that all the time? His crossing with either foot was superb, so reliable defensively too. He wasn't able to beat a man but never needed to because his crossing was so good, bit like Beckham in that respect but obviously, Beckham's crossing (right foot) was better.

Finnan worked his way up too. I think I'm right in saying he played at every level prior to joining Liverpool too.

A lot of that could just be Gerrez going on about him repeatedly.

  6. You won't find anyone criticising Rob Jones on here :) (bar the muppets that now do it because I just said that <laugh>)

He's before my time, so I can't comment, but yes, he does seem to have a good reputation. I was more just getting in a dig at you. :emoticon-0110-tongu

Well it's looking more and more like he's going to fit the criteria the OP stated.

    Pongo.

I always liked Cinema-PondGoal! To be fair to him- he did perform really well for us as a substitute- he looked a little like a young Henry at times. Shame that he could never duplicate that sort of performance when he started a game. Whenever he started a game PondGoal was carp! His sub appearances were always lively and exciting though!

I though Insua wasn't half bad at times- blasted by everyone undeservedly I thought... for a young kid learning the ropes in England he wasn't that bad. I quite liked him.

Insua was brilliant in his breakthrough season when he was rotating with Aurelio.

Then he got chucked in at the deep end and struggled in a sh*t LFC side, and couldn't recover. He could have been a stable left back for us for many years if managed properly.

I like Milan Baros as well <ok>

Billy Stevenson. As far as this thread is concerned only because there's only probably 2 people who have heard of him!

    Jari Litmanen!

I always felt Djibril Cisse deserved more from Benitez.

Sinama Pongolle I always like to. But he fell apart with injuries after he left us so we dodged a bullet.

Insua was mention above. He was forced in to the first team full time to early and it ruined him.

Milan Baros was great at Euro 2004 but never quite matched that form for us.

David Johnson.......with LFC during a remarkable period in the clubs history (76'-82').

A striker with a better than 1 in 3 goal scoring record..............but you rarely hear his name mentioned.

I loved Jari Litmanen, another player we had at the twilight of his career but as mentioned earlier, Rob Jones. I argue his case in work with the mancs about him being the best right back the prem has had. They inevitably mention rat face.
