Good Morning Everyone, Welcome to another exciting edition, live from Southampton. One player Leeds have been heavily linked with since Milanic took the Elland Road hot seat is Josip Ilicic. The Slovenia international, 26, is an attacking midfielder and is currently on the books of Serie A outfit Fiorentina. Ilicic joined the Florence-based outfit in the summer of 2013 following the relegation of Palermo to Serie B. The highly-rated attacker has yet to reach his best at Fiorentina and has not scored in six Serie A appearances so far this season, although he has created eight chances and has a pass accuracy of 86%. He cost 7m euros, but would probably cost Cellino half that! How bizarre is it, that we are talking about players costing ££££££ when our last two predecessors would not put their hands in their pockets at all! Here is a clip showing Ilicic in action last night. How did you get to acquire it? Morning Elland and all. That Ilicic thing has made me wonder, given were nine weeks from another transfer window, how many new faces will we see in January? Assuming of course Darko is still in place and FFP hasn't banned us signing anyone. Personally, I believe if we're within six points of playoffs, Cellino could bring in more new faces. Even though he said promotion was a two year plan, I'm sure he's figured out, the playoffs are a reachable target for maybe ten clubs still. We can't afford to drop any further off the pace and probably need a win tomorrow
I remember I was 14 / 15, and as part of my maths coursework. I wrote to all 92 league clubs, sending each one a survey on crowd disturbances. I collected the information, and showed the data as pie charts, bar graphs etc. 99% of the clubs actually filled it in. Leeds sent me a complete damn dossier (it was like war and peace). They also sent me a letter signed by all the players.
Morning Eire, We definately are due a win. We are not playing badly when you consider our team have been flipped 360 degrees. We have got rid of most of the dross, we are playing a bit of football, but we need some width!
Good morning from a hazy Cote de Bardsey to Matt and his boys I dont think Hunt will be even considered for tomorrow infact I think his days are over at Leeds THe chances are Sharp will play if fit otherwise it could be Morison Does anyone kjnow how Illic played yesterday in Greece a p-oor game and he could well be on his way to us for£3m, loan first of all, who would have thought this a year ago we would be lucky to find 30k I am going to Blackpool for 10 return today with Moe you cant beat these bargains talking about bargains get the Mirror £5 off groceries at Aldi till next Thursday if you spend £30 I got 3 papers yesterday!
Morning all. With the next TW on the way, I'd like to see those who we've got given a chance before we look to recruit anyone else. So Montenegro, Ajose etc. Have I missed something? Is Doukara injured? If not, why would he be replaced?
Morning Mike, thanks for the tip in the papers. Ilicic sounds good, but how many midfielders do we need? We have Montenegro, Adryan, Austin, Cook, Dawson, Bianci, Mowatt, Muprphy and Sloth. All these players, I would suggest would get into most Championship teams. This is without mentioning the likes of Tonge, White, Norris, Thompson and Benedicic (injured).
Although our midfield gets turned over 9 times out of 10 I'm not sure if buying Ilicic permanently would be the best decision. I'm not don't get him but looking at his form so far this season for Fiorentina I'd say get him on loan till the end of the season. Seems to be working so far with other players! I think we should play Sharp up front. Bolstering the midfield would be pointless with Antenucci being caught off side to many times every match. Sooner have two forwards on the pitch than 1 How did Adryan play against Norwich on Tuesday? Is he likely to start against Wolves on Saturday?
Morning Grogger, Adryan started on Tuesday. Not really sure how he got on though!!! Think Sharp is struggling with injury. I can't see him starting regularly for us, and don't think he'd be happy with a bit part.
Here is the thing... We are an improving team who on paper look very promising, a better squad than we have had in a long time despite hovering somewhere near the middle of the table. I don't believe many of us truly expect promotion this year, we don't create enough genuine chances but the foundations are solid. I have lost count of how many loan players we currently have with an option to buy? I do remember the options being somewhere in the region of £4m each, I could be wrong on that as we were being linked with so many players on the build up to the new season. When we do not manage promotion will we still sign these players? We might be linked with a player who will cost between £3m and £6m but seriously, does anyone expect Cellino to spend that much when we have those loans with options, I don't and that isn't me knocking what he has done so far, just being realistic with how things stand and remembering we are set to buy back ER next month if he is true to his word. Morning BTW
Morning ristac, I believe Cellino has a two year plan, and he's in for the long haul so should keep improving the team (I hope)
If Milanic wants Josip Ilicic then forget it, Hockaday was said to be the one asking for Sharp and Ajose, Sharp is getting increasingly unhappy with his bench role and I never did believe Ajose was good enough. Cellino ignoring a coaches requests (at least until they have proven themselves with us) isn't a bad thing, it should stop some of the problems we have had in the past and indeed still left with. We are at the maximum number of loans and most reports are suggesting that we are interested in a loan so unless we make one of the current loans a permanent deal I can't see it happening.
I see Lust appear to have appointed themselves spokesman for the club on Sky. I thought they had given up.
