people have questioned the wisdom of signing a sponsorship deal prior to the conclusion of our season but it appears the club secured a significant upgrade to the deal--was it enough? 'Promotion chasing Welsh soccer team Swansea City has extended its sponsorship agreement with online gaming company 32Red for a further three years. The deal, which is the biggest in the clubâs history, sees the 32Red logo retain visual presence on the front of the teamâs home and away shirts until 2014. The Gibraltar-based company will also remain the Swansâ official online gaming partner. 32Red previously held a sponsorship deal with English Premier League team Aston Villa, before becoming the primary sponsor of Swansea in 2009. That initial two-year agreement was valued at around US$750,000. The updated contract agreement is likely to be worth somewhere in the region of US$900,000 annually. Swansea City's vice-chairman, Leigh Dineen, said of the deal: "It demonstrates yet again how far Swansea City has come as a football club. To secure such a prestigious sponsor for another three years in such a difficult financial climate speaks volumes. We've had a fantastic working relationship with 32Red over the last two years which has only benefited both parties. We are all looking forward to driving both businesses forward over the next three years.â Ed Ware, chief executive of 32Red, added: "We are thrilled to be extending our commitment to Swansea City. The high quality of the football played by the Swans sits well with our second to none approach to providing an outstanding service to our players, and the friendliness and professionalism at the club also complements our own approach to our loyal players." It would appear that we have gone from US$375,000 pa to US$900,000 pa Good work/jumped the gun/could have done better? www.sportspromedia.com/.../premier_league_hopefuls... - United States
I'd say we probably wouldn't have got a massive deal more, but maybe... ok, obviously we could have got more if we were free to negotiate as we got promoted, but it's all ifs and buts maybe. 32RED were willing to put a lucrative 3 year package on the table and it'd be hard to turn down.
I agree with you Scott-i'm amazed we managed to increase the deal by app 300% but we seem to have a good relationship with 32 Red-happy days-onwards and upwards. They've committed app £700K pa which we could never have dreamt of in the past-can you ever imagine 'stretch limo' or 'action' sorting that out?
I couldn't get the link to work. Took a bit of digging to find it but I did so here's a working link... Sportspro report on Swans partnership deal with 32red Seems like a good deal although a $1,000,000 would of looked cleaner on the page
