Precisely. And all of a sudden the Dutch league is surprisingly exciting to watch. Like it was never any good before this season.... And you'd be amazed how many people actually think the only good goals are scored in England, Spain, Holland and the UCL cos they're the only ones that make into the Sky goals of the week vote. They don't actually twig it's cos they're the only competitions they have rights to.

Depends on definition. Bramhall Lane is the oldest sports stadium in the world still in use. But it was originally built for cricket. Wednesday used it before United who moved there in 1889. Deepdale has been used as a football ground since roughly 10 years earlier and is the only ground of the founder members of the football league which is still used.

Burnley FC was also a founder member of the football league and have played at Turf Moor ever since.

Burnley came into existence after PNE moved into Deepdale.

cheers,Mrs BMB. Forgot about them. Deepdale is the longest continually used football ground.

One of our fans, obviously with little sense of football history themselves, opined there was no place for little clubs like Burnley with no history in the PL.

You must have missed the post that Mrs BMB left this board after the World Cup charity thread a few months ago and Blue_ Mountains_Bear ( her husband) replaced her. Sorry for any confusion.

Lots of interesting info about the grounds that are featured but it would have been much more interesting if it had been a complete list. Boothferry Park (arguably the best playing area in all the leagues, and what about the better than state of the art floodlights) and the the original ground near the KC have already been mentioned but what about the others. Derby County's Baseball Ground comes to mind. Perhaps you can think of others.

Not according to the internet. Bramball Lane was built for Cricket in 1855 so it would be the 3rd oldest as Lords Cricket Ground was built in 1814, and Melborne Cricket Ground is the 2nd oldest and was built in 1854.

Yardley. If you look on the link provided earlier on Post No 3 by DMD you will find an expanded list of another 3 dozen or so including info on the ones you have mentioned. As you were in Darlington for a while Feethams may also be of interest.

I know I could easily find this with a quick google but where do Darlo play now? Didnt they threaten to leave the arena up there and, if they did, what's happened to that? Must be the most ridiculous new stadium ever....

edit - I did just google and I had literally no ****ing idea that Darlington went bust! How did I miss this? I've become one of them ****er Premier League fans I always hated who has no idea of life in the lower leagues.

I've always had a soft spot for Darlo - my first away game was at Feethams on a rainy afternoon. If don't remember too much about the game but I reckon it was around 01, and I'm pretty sure we got beat 3 0.

Yeah me too, i always had a strange soft spot for them. Maybe it's cos they played a key role in our historic moments, such as the last game at BP and, erm....Alton Thelwell's debut.

Thanks, it must have been that last one which is later than I'd thought. It makes sense though because we went the next year to the new ground.

I miss going to grounds like that, we went to Boston a couple of weeks after that Darlo game and were so close to their keeper in the first half we could hear everything he could say.
