Hey, why not..? It's not often we get so many goals from one game that we can vote for the best one. Poll coming up. If I can ever remember how to do it..! Thinking about it, there were some very good goals there.
Gonna say Cork's. Had the best build up play IMO with the best finish even if it did bobble off the line. I would say Tadic had the keeper not set him up but that finish was still glorious.
Vergini. Sorry, I know it's not one of our players, but there are so many strikers that would dream and practice daily of hitting a ball like that and failing. Excellent technique.
It's a bit difficult to be indifferent, I must say. He's so damned talented. I think it was Lff who said he'd never seen a player play with his head so up, with the ball at his feet. I can only agree. No wonder his vision is so good.
I've plumped for Cork's goal. 1] because the move is so good overall, but 2] the details are brilliant. The passing is precise and crisp. Tadic kills the ball stone dead when he receives it off Jack, and then delivers a perfect ball over the top. It also shows excellently the way he has his head up and waits for the perfect moment before picking a pass, this time with his right foot. The worst thing about the goal was Jack's slight miss kick, but it was still a great goal. Others considered were Pelle's sweep into the far corner, because it was a brilliant finish, and the last goal of the eight, because it was another great move. But Sunderland were progressing throwing in the towel by then, whereas during Cork's goal they were still up for the fight.
Went for Tadic goal because it was a lovely curling shot and he deserved it for overall play. Also liked Pelle's second goal (not the OG)...how does he do that with his feet...he will completely fool many defenders this season. Amazing for such a big man...guess that is his dancing experience (and I'm not joking....he must be very aware of his feet).
Gotta be Vergini for me. It takes years of hard work, vision and determination to **** up that badly. Tadics one-touch curler around the keeper comes in second
I've gone for Vic's because of some great build-up play and a cracking finish. All the others were the result of great attacking play by Saints, though, including the first OG and Mannone's blunder under pressure to allow the chance of a lovely curling shot by Tadić. All in all you would have been happy if if the match had been decided by any of the eight, but to have all of them in one game was just unbelievable. As someone else said on Saturday, I hope we haven't used up our allowance in one go!
He who shall not be named...in fact, I think we should remove his name from his shirt in case other managers are compiling their shopping lists. Too easy to spell...took them years to spell Schneiderlin.
The most aesthetically pleasing goal was Graziano's second, the pass, the movement, the sublime finish...It was poetry in motion.
Or his third. I see on the OS that the club are going to officially claim it for Pelle, if allowed. I'm sure Bridcutt wouldn't kick up a fuss, and Egil would be pleased for Graziano.
I love Graziano, I really do - his ability, his effort, his willingness to adapt his game, his commitment and his scoring rate. But that was an own goal.
