The true test of LVG is at last upon us. WBA Chelsea and City. Big matches coming up. United have yet to win an away match.

How many points do you think United will get out of 9? How many would you be happy with?

I think United will get 4 points. And anything better than that would be a bonus.

Routemaster FC will be the easiest of the 3 (maybe)

All depends on whether the 3 first choice centre halves are fit. If they aren't we could lose all 3. If they are then I think we will get a point/win at WBA, beat Chelsea and lose to City.

I maintain that we can't judge this team until the manager can pick a preferred centre half pairing for more than one game in a row. Out of interest who would play at centre half for Liverpool if Sakho, Lovren and Skrtel were unavailable? Same question for Chelsea with regards to Terry, Cahill and Ivanovic. City with Kompany, Mangala and Demechilis. Possibly more apt for another thread.

It reflects the strength of the squad and possibly also the type of training the players are getting.

How many times have we had key players injured in the past? somehow the manager has managed to get others to come in and do a job. The same for the LVG. If his squad is good enough, then he should have replacements for first team absentees.

The performances will also be important. Will the matches be one sided?

    12. Definitely 12,

We'll get an extra three point bonus for making Mourinho cry after we smash Chelsea 8-2 <ok>

Fergie had to play Carrick and Fletcher as centre halves because of injuries. We got tonked by Fulham.

It was Carrick and Gary Neville against Fulham in the 09/10 season. I think we ended up winning 3-2 after going behind twice cos GNev never stood a chance of winning a header in the box.

Carrick had to play CB again in 11/12 after Vidic got kneecapped, but Fletcher was out ill by then. That was when we got done by Blackburn at home.

If we get beat by WBA (or even draw) we are back to square one and LVG will have a hard time from the media.

It's more important that we get decent results against the big teams; City and Chelsea, the WBA result is a standard league match worth 3 points but the other two matches are 6-pointers each.

I'd be happy if we get two draws against those two, or a win and a loss, at least we would not have dropped points against them overall...

We can't afford to lose both or get a draw and a loss against title rivals (see Arsenal in previous seasons)

The "must do" is to win at WBA. Anything less than that is a disaster. 2 points from the City and Chelski would be acceptable, but anything more than that would be superb

This has nothing to do with this thread, and I have nothing against Sunderland, but watching Gus Poyet's smugness being humbled today on the touchline, after last season, the racist crap he supported against Evra, and his general ABUness, is lovely to watch
