As evidenced of late Rovers need to get a striker or 2 who is capable of doing the job at this low level. Past 4 games have seriously exploited the weakness that the team shows up front. Look at todays stats 13 or 14 goal attempts on target no F5ckin Goals and what do we do end up loosing our biggest local Derby of the Season to the Mighty Forest Men what a laugh. The only consolation is that we, due to other teams around us failing to win today have not slipped as much as we should have (thankfully) following a run of the past 4 games producing poor performances and poor points. Now what concerns me and I would imagine anyone else (especially NH and the Board of BRFC) is that Bris City are storming their Division and banging in the Goals (maybe a trip to Trashton for our Strikers so they can see how its done, yes it'll embarrass them but boy do they need help). Plainly the Coaches working with our Strikers are not getting the message through. Now if we dont start scoring and winning rather than drawing or like today losing games we are in the sh*te big time if City do what it looks like they will do come May 2105 and reach the Championship whilst we are still swimming around in the little pond thinking we are big fish. The Generations of Supporters lost will haunt Rovers for decades to come and no ifs or buts failure to get back in the League this Seasons end is not an option. Today has demonstrated we are not a big fish and the sooner the players wake up to the fact that you have to battle to win games the better. DC's striker signings have so far proved nothing other than they have difficulty in finding the net so if these are the best then where do we go from here ?
The training nets at shooting practice must be bigger than normal goals. I can't remember many attempts on target.
FFs how many years have we been saying the same thing?? anybody can see that we are not scoring enough goals for a team seriously chasing promotion!! This has been a problem for a very long time yet we still dont do anything about it.. this why we are playing football in the conference.. Unless the board dig deep and are serious about turning this shambles of a club around then we are not going anywhere... Higgs and Co if you are looking at this please do the right thing and get in 2 players who know where the net is!!!
We've just lost one game on the back of one of our best unbeaten runs for years. We're still there or thereabouts. And we're still one of the form teams in the Conference. So there's definitely no need to panic. We definitely need a couple of strikers who can convert more chances. I'm sure DC will bring one or two people in who fit the bill. And it's going to be a lot easier to get the right sort of strikers in now because we're in a decent position now.But overall we're doing pretty well. Even Barnet have been turned over a few times and Torquay have fallen away. We miss Sinclair, and we need a decent striker.Apart from that we're fine...
http://www.soccerstats.com/formtable.asp?league=england5 ...top of the form table over the last 10 games... it's not bad after a shaky start...
How Matt Taylor didn't score that chance yesterday is beyond me. We definitely need at least one striker with composure as well as pace.
i had perfect view of the trotman header that went over, cunnington header that hit the post, taylors shot that was saved at the near post as well as his shot (sitter) that went over the bar, harrisons lob that went wide and martins header that went wide, how we didnt score not 1 of these chances yesterday is beyond me and these were all in the 2nd half and most were after we were down to 10 men. http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...Twitter-Page?p=7196714&viewfull=1#post7196714
Jamie White needs a run of games IMO, As others have stated, current form is good, & if we repeat the same over the next 3 blocks of 10 games (no I've not done the maths) then I don't think many teams will be above us......
Past 5 games = 6 points, first 5 games = 5 points. Current form hardly promotion or even play off form. The goodish position is as a result of 5 wins on the bounce period. If we are to be in the mix its got to be 2 points per game average for the remainder of the Season. With the existing strikers its a tall order so NH hands in pocket time. The reality is that Rovers have to dare to win games rather than settling for too many draws (and avoiding defeat), better to have 12 games and 6 defeats and 6 wins making 18 points rather than 3 defeats 4 wins and 5 draws making 17 points. We know how expensive 1 lost point can be, look where we are now but for the sake of that 1 point last Season. The only way you win games is scoring goals and this is a major problem no matter how much faith DC has in these goal shy strikers. Simple fact is currently we need Strikers that can actually score and a more creative midfield play maker to assist IMHO.
agree with you here. the dare to win games part, yesterday even with 10 men, we went for it in my eyes. we had great chances to draw level and even win the game. these were not just half chances but great chances. we didnt hold back. it didnt look like we had 10 men to be honest. unlike the start of the season where creating chances was an issue, thats no longer an issue, our issue is now putting them many chances away. we literally had enough chances yesterday to win 2 or 3 games. but failed to score full stop!
'Could' replace with Should and this is why if the board dont at least try and get in a proven goalscorer we shall be competing in this league next season. M.Taylor to me anyway seems to be more pre - occupied with the way in which he looks than to actually be doing what he is paid for.
Yes a great result now can they carry that forward in this sh&t hole of a League. If they can come Easter 2015 "we'll be back "as Arnie would say
Thing's are pretty good at the moment and I'm enjoying the bit of success. I think DC's a good manager and we've got players playing for the shirt again. Hopefully we'll keep close to the pace setters Barnet and overhaul them at some point. Our run in's better than theirs, so it should be an exciting season as things unfold.
Guessing Brighton 2-8 back in the smash and grab days. Brian Clough was Brightons manager at the time. We got 6 at Reading with Cureton getting 4 and Roberts getting the other 2. But I cant think of other games where we managed to get 7 or more.
