2.05 VICENTE 7/2 Lightly raced son of Dom Alco. Interesting that Nicholls brings him into Grade 2 company over a trip that should suit. Think Twisters animal looks to have vulnerable form.

Other one I'd be interested in if Stick could provide me with a feel of what the yard think is Emma Lavelles JUNCTION FOURTEEN 3.15 14/1 e.w. Raced just 6 times so far, this 5 year old looked booked for 4th off a mark of 136 in behind SAPHIR DU RHEU at Kempton, and prior to that had bolted up unextended at the same venue. Two mistakes at Cheltenham in a very competitive Martin Pipe (won by DON POLI, who will go on to be a Graded staying hurdler/chaser) but this is less competitive in terms of ability and he could possibly make an impression.

haha,

QMCC day and you are moaning about the internet and queues for drinks. Its like going to Wembley and complaining that you didn't get a cucumber sandwich and your Ipad wasn't streaming Eastenders properly.

It's hard not to be keen on todays racing. There's something for everyone. Plenty of decent group 1's at Newmarket and the return of genuine national hunt racing at HQ. I'm off today and will try to watch the lot.

The Warrior's entry has made me chuckle. Coolmore clearly don't rate the Middle Park do they? Unless he improves hand over fist, they've decided to send a very average horse to gauge the competition. To be fair to 'The Lads', they don't usually shirk a challenge so you have to assume they have plans for their big three, JFK, Gleneagles (ran in France and was very impressive to my eye) and ahhhh i've forgotten it's name - one of you will help me out with it i'm sure.

I really like Lucida. If she loses today i'm going to be giving her excuses because the form stacks up so well that it is going to take something very good to beat her. To get within a gnats arse of Cursory Glance in Ireland's Moyglare group 1 2 runs back and then easily win the Rockfel LTO shows she's a serious horse. Interestingly, Raydara will be one to take seriously when she runs again having beaten Lucida on her last start. Of all the horses running today I think she reprints stunning value at 13/8.

I think there's an opportunity to take the favs on in the Dewhurst. Smugglers Cove might have won by half the track last time out but I don't see how winning a Dundalk listed race by any distance equates to being second favourite for a group one next time out. Coolmore don't seem to send their best horses here and again, I think they are trying to nick one here without extending their best youngsters. The fav looks a decent horse but i'm not sure he has significantly stronger claims than some of the others in the field and if you decide to take out the fav and Smugglers Cove, you can get 7/1 Maftool, Kodi Bear at 8/1 and Bellardo at 16/1. Those prices are more appealing to me and Kodi Bear probably sticks out of those three as one with potential. Cox stuck him in a group 2 on his second start after all and he ran a very creditable 5th seemingly needing a longer trip. He then won a listed race easily, beating the subsequent Gimcrack winner by a couple of lengths LTO. That's strong form in my opinion. Probably as good if not better than anything the fav has done.

So, my two bets today are:

Fillies Mile - Lucida 13/8
Dewhurst - Kodi Bear 8/1

Double.

Depends whose playing. If it was an England game surely your EastEnders stream becomes critical?!

from Kim Bailey's blog (very good read)

"Lastly Charingworth, who is the oldest horse in the yard (11) tries to go one better than last year. The old boy is in cracking form"

Quote from Hugh Taylor ATR column this morn...

"The going stick reading from Newmarket as of yesterday evening was the lowest ever recorded on the Rowley Mile, and whilst it’s a track that does dry out quite quickly, it still seems likely that there will still be plenty of give in the ground today."
He also selects Marsh Hawk @ 7/2
Good Luck <ok>

I think at least one of them will get beaten today Joe in this soft going. If not they will have confirmed they really are top draw material.

Telly picks:

Taking Muhaarar to outslog Ivawood - it's a hunch, no more - and proven soft ground runner Marsh Hawk to keep the Dubai Fillies prize at home.

I'm going to fall for the O'Brien "hint" yet again with his chosen representative from 7 entries, Smugglers Cove in the Dewhurst.

I like Haggas's Majestic Manner in the opener, and in the Cornwallis I'm taking a wild guess at the Swedish animal, Volatile who by the time honoured phrase "could be anything". But is probably cack <laugh>

In the proper racing from NHHQ I think Thomas Crapper is nailed on. I just hope the jockey is too :D

I can't imagine Smugglers Cove is anywhere near the top off the pecking order at Coolmore so if he wins the Dewhurst then the English trainers really must worry
