I thought there was another board for all the OTs this is supposed to be about football for heavens sake.

The thread about the McCanns is awful

You started one thread in 2013, if I'm right, and rarely contribute on other people's threads.

This isn't a library where you can just pop in for a read.

The McCann thread is a topical discussion on a discussion board ........ what's your problem with it?

That was my thinking mate, it happens all the time, transfer window in the summer was a massive OT-fest.

The irony of starting an OT thread about OT threads :)

Fair point, I tend to go on other Sunderland boards more. I like not606 cos you can visit other clubs boards and have a bit of banter. I thought OTs went to a separate place to discuss non-football topics. But as you say I will not be a great miss if I post on here even less.

99% of them are marked o/t.
You don't wanna read them then leave them be.
    Simple isn't it?

You sound like some kind of Mary Whitehouse, deliberately looking for things that upset you.
The control is all in your hands buddy, if it's upsetting you then read no further.
But folk like you just can't help themselves can they?
It's a need you have. Got to have something in your life that gets your feathers ruffled.

Did someone have a gun at your head forcing you to digest every word of the McCann thread?
I suspect not. If thine eyes offend thee then pluck them out.

I was thinking only this morning what a good sounding board this is for O/T opinions. I enjoy reading the thoughts of the likes of Smug, Billy, RAW, Typical Terry, MR and many others. Long may it continue <cheers>

The one main reason why I like enjoy reading on this forum is the o/t's - though overall I would say it's pretty well balanced content wise - if it was all just strictly football - I'd be stumped tbh I certainly would visit as much ;)

Agree with Billy, people can always choose NOT to read threads they aren't interested in. If there were no O/T threads then we would only be left with old threads like is borini going to sign

I can't see what's wrong with the thread tbh, it's a discussion about a topical subject.

Some people may wish to believe the McCanns are squeaky clean wonderful parents but we're entitled to disagree.

Who wants to talk of topic on General Chat with all the idiots? Folk want to talk off topic with fellow Sunderland fans, our footballing family and to a lot off people a vital link and reminder off home. The expats particular need more than just football. To suggest Sunderland fans should only talk football together is ludicrous imo. Friendships and rapport are built on personalities and things in common, how are people meant to get to know one and other if there are unwritten rules limiting the topic of conversation?

OT threads are an important part of this forum imo, I don't read or post on them all because I'm not always interested, but that doesn't mean i'd be justified to declare that others shouldn't take interest just because I don't.

You are a long time poster on this forum and Sundermad who I have a lot of respect for Sunders, but this forum has always been a varied mixture of all kinds of topics...
As for the McCann thread, I disagreed with much of the content on there so therefore expressed my own stance on the matter...

To be fair to the bloke I think it's one thread in particular that's bothered him, there were some poor comments on there. As a fan of a different club I'm far more likely to read the OT threads than the Sunderland ones, I wouldn't be here if there weren't any.
