Is there any way to stop it? of course not, but what if whores were legal, would that down spiral it? maybe not. who knows.

The number of rapes is now at its highest ever level with a 48% rise in the number of the sex attacks at knifepoint, police figures show.

There were 22,116 rapes recorded by police in England and Wales in the year to June - a 29% rise - while all sexual offences showed an increase of 22%.

One of the largest increases in the number of sex crimes recorded by officers was in South Yorkshire, which saw an 80% surge. The highest was Durham.

I honestly believe that if prostitution was legal it would be safer and could be better managed. You will always get illegal practice but I think it would be better for all those involved.

Saying that rapists are pure scum in my eyes. One of the worst things you can do to someone.

Legalised brothels would not have any effect on rape at all imo.
It would make it safer for the working girls though.

    Why not?
It's a perfectly debatable subject & one that should be discussed.

Prostitution, if legalised, could be taxed and policed. Taking power away from scumbag pimps and giving the women a bit more safety. I'd never visit the establishments myself but I'm all for legalising it.

Rape's something completely different. ****ing psychopathic ****s with no self control.

True but not all working girls are pimp locked smack heads.
There's plenty who do just fine registered with escort agencies or even on their own.
Agree with you on rapists too, totally heinous crime.
    Those bastards should be castrated.

An valid argument and one that I can somewhat agree with- reason for the increase the rape culture is the constant media led objectification of women plus the ever-growing widespread distribution of ( extreme possibly?) on-line pornography, it reduces the female (or albeit male) form to a commodity - I feel sorry for our youth that believe (edit* non consensual) 'sexting' and such like is normal behaviour- I've worked with lots of women who have been in abusive relationships and have been raped by their partners only to say that their 'rape' was not primarily a sexual act but one of dominance and empowerment.

    My missus lives in Australia.

I can assure you in some cases sexting is very normal behaviour, not doing so would be to unhealthily repress. I don't think the fact that we participate in that means we're going to go out and rape a bunch of people after.

Any sexual behaviour between consenting couples is obviously ok - what I should have said and mean't was non -consensual sexting

They should be castrated. Known three women in my life who were assaulted, and I promise the damage that was done was devastating.

There should be a better clarification on what constitutes a rape. The laws on rape where written when on a whole Women didn't get pissed/ stoned an go back to hotel rooms with young men. We've all been in situations where a girl in our past could have cried rape and we wouldn't have had a leg to stand on even though we were 100% innocent and sex was 100% consensual. This whole Judy Finnegan thing has brought up some valid points. I fully believe that if a girl goes back to a hotel room with a guy/guys and gets raped it should be classed differently from a girl who is pulled into bushes whilst walking home.. Finnegan was partly correct.

I'd love to see how high these figures would be if the Political Correctness from the Labour party hadn't allowed a culture of rape and abuse by members of other religions in parts on Northern England especially Rotherham. Using Racism to cover up crime is part and parcel of daily life in parts of the UK. Then again, some members of the same Labour party were happy bedfellows with the *****phile information exchange and were aiding them to call for legalised abuse of children as young as 10 and allowing a culture of sex abuse within the BBC.

So with all this debating about rape, would you want SAFC to sign Ged Evans, after all he has served his time(not enough time in my opinion)he is a free agent and should he be given a new start in life?

I remember a politician, cant remember who, who said a few years back that there were different levels of rape! The media went into a frenzy saying rape is rape! But I thought he was correct! Like you say, There is the drunken hotel room yes/no scenario, to dragging people into bushes, to sex slaves locked in a dungeon for years against their will! However all should be strictly dealt with accordingly! All crimes have different levels. If not all rapists, murderers, robbers would get the same length of jail sentence up and down the country!

I think the first thing we need to do is inform men that just because a woman may be off her head with drugs or alcohol or both, it does not make her fair game, in fact if she isn't in a fit state to say yes or no it will mean rape!, I know it's a controversial thought & I don't mean any.
