Would love to see him and Fergie get plenty of game time. Kadar as well, wasn't sure about him but he thinks he can do it so i doubt he's far off

Would normally say Joey but all this uncertainty, SIGN THE ****ER UP MIKE FFS!!!!

If not Colo or Tayls for me. If Tayls starts this seasons like he finished the last one he'll deserve it and show Gypo who is the real Geordie Hero!

I agree. We need to start giving Fergie more time but i would like to see him bulk up abit as he looks really weak. We need to look at the Bundesliga as they bleed the youngsters through early, just look at Mario Goze he's a regular starter for Dortmund and is getting called up to the German National squad on a regular basis, and he's only just turned 19.

It's true though, a lot of the games he captained the side he was very poor, Aston Villa being the main one.

I think Pardew wants to give it to Barton, but we're leaving it so late so he can make sure Barton's still here a week before the season starts. I'd guess Saylor, Colo and Barton will each captain the side at least once in pre season games.

Also, if Cabaye learns English quickly, he could be worth consideration (depending on how well he fits in with the squad etc).

Is Tiote vocal enough for it? I've neer really noticed but he'd certainly lead by example anyway.

Tiote doesn't use his voice, Tiote speaks with his eyes.

Tiote, who is going to mess with him when you know he will just break your legs?

My vote's with Taylor (of the Steven variety)

    - Local lad
    - One of the longest serving players
    - As a defender he can see what's going wrong ahead of him and gets more of a view of the team's performance

I'd be happy with any of Saylor, Colo or Barton but my pick would be Colo. I think Pardew will pick Barton though, so long as he's still here a week before the season.

I think Taylor has looked like a future captain for a while, his time in the under 21's was impressive. If he can stay fit, I think he is the most suitable option. I don't want Barton to have it, unless he signs a new deal. The fact that we have had a new captain every year for a while no concerns me.

I'd throw my hat in for Saylor for all of the above reasons, plus he seems happy here and isn't looking to move on.

Is Cabaye out of the question? Am I right in thinking he was Lille captain?
