Doesn't look like the building will stop at Staplewood! On 22nd August 2014 Saints made this application to the New Forest district council to expand the newly finished main pavilion building.

Nope. Kat doesn't care and won't invest, and Les is just her stooge.

As clear a case of asset-stripping as I ever saw!

Definitely, if you look closely you can see the expansion is on wheels so she can fill it with ill gotten gains, put our exec in his little Krueger-Cage and ride over our dreams into the sunset.

Seriously though, it looks like the plan is to remove the "unsightly" training dome, which is a temporary structure anyway, and replace it with a two-storey building with 3 times the floor area but only half the volume. It will free up some space for additional car parking.

I think extra classrooms were mentioned recently by the club as well.

These proposals follow a pubic presentation held by the previous chairman Nichola Cortese on the
5th October 2013, at the St Mary’s Stadium.

Pointed out in application by someone on Saintsweb.

The board has never quite grasped the principles of asset stripping.

I am pretty sure I remember that Staplewood is on rented ground, seems like alot of money to spend when not owning the ground, but certain they will have a long term ironclad lease in place.
just hoping they start to show youth games live

You're right in one sense, and wrong in another.

Staplewood (the buildings and the vast majority of pitches) is owned by the club.

However, they're wanting to expand onto nearby fields, ONLY to make 5 more pitches, for which they would have to take out a short term lease of 5-25 years.

I bet it's a good deal for the landowner. If it is green belt and you are unlikely to get planning permission in the near future, a short term lease to Saints could be lucrative with the possibility of a later sale to SFC or for development. Unless it is council land?
