Eire when we started following/supporting Leeds United there was no twatter, facebook, internet etc...we had match of the day, the big match itv, papers and radio...or actually getting to ER to support the team. I've forgotten the point I was trying to make..FFs
I would find it hard to understand that there was a bigger non-believer of Cellino than me before he bought the club. I still personally don't think he is the greatest owner we have ever had and we will have better in the future. BUT he has done tremendous things for this club in the small amount of time he has been here with his only questionable decision being to hire Hockaday but he cleared him out quickly enough that we didn't lose too much progression. I really do hope he will buy back Elland Road, it was one of his first promises and if he backs out of that he will lose a lot of credibility. I do sometimes wonder why so many faces in the game publicly state their disapproval of Cellino as if they know something we don't, but then I think it is mainly because they are only really looking at the situation from afar and don't fully understand just how much he is an improvement for us mainly just judging him on his "sketchy" past. But then also a lot of these same people say he hasn't invested in the team which clearly isn't true.
We can't judge him yet, let's see after the season ends. I'm not convinced on the players he has signed, I'm not convinced on his interference on team selection, I'd rather the manager/coach have more influence on team matters than Cellino...time will tell.
What players are you not convinced about? I admit there are a couple but as far as percentages of good signings to bad signings go I think he has got to be up there. As far as interference with the team selection, I don't believe he has any. I don't believe Adryan wouldn't of played by now if he was interfering and I don't think Redfearn would've picked mainly academy graduates in his games in charge either. Warnock is the only case that seems rather iffy to me, other than that the team selections seem ok.
I have no proof to Cellinos team interference, have you. I never mentioned any of the players names either. I don't trust a foreign manager/coach or players. They don't understand the tradition of OUR club. Yes I hope it all works out, but going by this forum we are the most fickle supporters on here, win one week(we'll win the league), lose the next sack the manager.
I was also told, and now its been mentioned I will say it....... Cellino does pick the majority of the team (7). The coach is allowed to pick the other 4.
I'm sorry, without major proof I just cannot believe that. And something that I really seem to see a lot (and call me crazy) and I'm not sure whether other club's fans are the same but people just seem to want to have a problem with something at the club imo. Always looking for something to worry about almost as if to justify it as the reason we are not conquering Europe.
If you are referring to the tradition of being a second tier club with very occasional stints in the top league despite having one of the six biggest fan bases in the country then I for one hope he bulldozes it and we perform at the level our size justifies.
Is this the same source that left the club before Cellino arrived. At best their information can only be third hand so. I'm afraid stuff coming from ex employees who haven't even worked under Cellino comes under the heading of take with a pinch of salt for me
Pretty sure it's all bulls**t been touted by either some bitter ex employee or someone being paid by the press for dirt. On what measures can cellino be judged a success or failure (in no particular order). a) financially stable b) making progress results wise on the pitch c) playing decent football d) having players that give hope for the future e) enticing fans to the ground by having realistic ticket pricing promotions If anyone can think of others please add them, and then lets judge him against previous owners or others who claimed to want to take the club over to see how he has done so far. In five weeks time if we don't own the ground then there might be something to complain about! I don't mean this sniffily but if you are an armchair supporter you arn't in the best position to judge how much if any progress is being made on any of the above measures.
So can someone post some issues about Cellinos ownership that are negative? The court case is a given but thats out of everyones hands and its by no means certain what if anything the FL can do whatever happens. Ifthere is nothing else can we put the sniping to bed and enjoy what looks and feels like a comparative upturn in our fortunes.
Well sorry if I come across like that Josh, but after 42+ years of un-breaking loyalty and after having witnessed the ups and downs at the club, I think I'm entitled to worry about what may be around the corner. Especially with the FL trying to get their pound of flesh. Of course I hope the new direction that we're going in will work out, but I can't help but be cautious.
The point of this forum is to be able to have discussions about the same football club we all love. There will always be disagreements between fellow supporters and just because some opinions may go against the opinions of others doesn't make them negative or sniping.
Doh! .... It's still early days, & we're in the bottom half of the table (once again) and paying consistently high prices. Derby for example have had games at £10 per match which, combined with their high league position, goals a plenty etc is bound to lead to higher attendances. Would you really want to pay full price to watch a third rate film at the cinema - which is basically similar to what we've had to do over the last few years at ER!
You could say the same about Sheff Weds & Wolves yet their average is higher than yours - Leeds have slipped to 8th in the league, so to argue that you have the 6th best following in the country is just ridiculous http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/attend.html
