The Daily Tackle is three people - one of whom is a Sunderland fan. We try to write about football in general, its just that Sunderland have been so busy recently, it makes it hard to write about Stoke or Blackburn. We will though. Your points are all well made and we won't post on this forum any more. We don't want to make people angry and if people on a forum overwhelmingly don't want you there - it's ignorant and arrogant to ignore that!

Consider it unanimous feedback that The Daily Tackle needs to improve if it is to be respected as a light-hearted poke at the football news (which I assume is what you're aiming for).

    We all make mistakes. <ok>

It's the strangest thing though Mod Face. We are getting 10,000 unique visitors a day and the only really bad reaction we are getting is from Sunderland and Newcastle fans. There is a little bit of us that likes the controversy. Satire isn't always roll around funny. It also provokes anger, hatred and derision. If it ever provoked apathy, we'd really be in trouble.

We're new and still working on things. Thanks for all your feedback and comments. All well made and well thought out. It would be easy just to write a load of abuse but that hasn't been the case. You didn't like the article and we respect that!

I just feel that you're obviously quite eloquent but you are doing yourself do favours by resorting to the cheap jokes. You may as well have said,

"x have signed [a black player], now they're stocking up on KFC and watermelon."

Taste aside, you repeat the joke far too much within the article and it gives an overall unfriendly feel to it, without the humour to make it enjoyable to read. If you're going for the 'edgy' Frankie Boyle style you've missed by about 40 years and hit Bernard Manning! <laugh>

Congrats on the page views but I do hope this is one of your weaker entries. <ok>

    Cheers Mod.

The point I was making was that the piece was more subtle than most have given it credit for. Most people don't find it remotely funny - however, those that hold that stereotype of Korea are congratulating us as I write this! We are laughing at them!

As for your (black player) comparison, that's a little unfair. Like I said earlier, we would never have written that and believe that to be most definitely racist. We are amplifying a commonly held stereotype about a country, a nation, a group of people - of course it's not accurate! We laugh at the people who think it is. I was in Seoul for the World Cup in 2002 and it is a fabulous place! Full of life and a real mix of East and West!

I think when you are presenting irony you need to be aware that the audience cannot always read an author's mind, especially when they don't know you so it will usually be taken at face value. I don't think you fully conveyed the stupidity of the author (since you were writing 'in character') and that is why you're getting so much negative feedback.

If you're doing ironic humour (not to everyone's taste but I appreciate it's popular) you need to FIRMLY establish a starting point and make it clear that this is NOT your personal viewpoint.

The only issue in Korea over dog meat is how common it is that the animals are beaten alive, not the fact they are dogs but that they are abused. I'd quite like to try properly prepared dog meat out of curiosity. <ok>

Perhaps, but then you dilute the effect and the article does not flow with the rest of the website. The answer may have been never to write it at all or write it for a site like Thump. We also write for the Onion and The Daily Mash. We write as a three and then decide whether we sell or put it on our own websites. This may have been better on the Mash.

    Thanks Mod!

Not every idea's a winner. I also think even an ironic/parody article on the negative stereotypes surrounding South Korean players is a bit old-hat now, Park Ji-Sung signing for Man Utd broke that 'taboo'. <ok>
