Really? Gerrard is on the wrong way down a slope, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. He did hardly anything last year and he's another year and another major operation older next season. Glen Johnson is ****. He's looks ok going forward but he is a pityfull defender and you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise. By the fact you didn't bother to mention you left back's that leaves you with one decent full back.
We beat Liverpool in two of the three games we played them in. We beat Chelsea in three of the four games we played them in. We beat Arsenal in two of the three games we played them in. What was your point again?
Ha ha it must really hurt you that our crap midfield pick up Prem medals season upon season, whilst your perfect midfield are finished by xmas. I bet you are hoping you get an easier draw than Northampton Town this year for your perfect midfield ha ha ha.
I believe the whole point of this is a Liverpool fan telling other Liverpool fans to not concern themselves with Utd, only for an angry little Utd fan like yourself to come on here and stamp your feet and wave your arms and beg us to agree you have good players. You have replaced your regular keeper with an expensive and inexperienced player from abroad. Even if De Gea does come good (i imagine he will, no criticisms against him) how can you not agree that you have currently been weakened there? It may not be your fault with VDS retiring but it's still true. If Gerrard is over the hill then surely you should have replaced Scholes and Giggs years ago. Ashley Young may be Gigg's replacement, but when he plays on the left he is not a standard winger (in the typical style Utd have used over the years) and more importantly is right footed. Your team is stronger with Young than without but whether he is the right signing will be interesting to see given you already have Valencia and Nani who are similar, right-footed players. Phil Jones hasn't even had a full season of Premier League games. Looks like he has great potential, but Smalling is probably ahead of him in terms of development so he's hardly a necessity. I think he's a much better centreback than midfielder and don't see Ferguson playing him in midfield often. The point Liverpool fans are making is that you only dealt with one problem (Van Der Sar) and even that could be a gamble. You've made good signings, without really making your team much more effective in my opinion. The key signing(s) is in the middle and it's only when i hear Utd have invested in a classy midfielder will i think these guys are stronger than last season. That means in the meantime any progress we make should bring us closer to you guys.
I heard that many times about Scholes and Giggs, never came true though. Also Glen Johnson is a perfectly capable defender, he makes no more **** ups than Evra, but apparently Evra is a world class defender and Johnson can't defend to save his life, hmm.
Have you ever heard of evolution? Well, this thread has evolved. That's what happenes when conversations take place, they tend to go off on tangents. As for the second bit of the above, utter bollocks. Read back, you're wrong. Not remotely angry just exasperated by complete ****wits like KPR and BBF. Your response above is fair enough, although I don't see why replacements have to be identical for them to actually qualify as replacements. Young isn't the same as Giggs but he is his replacement. Again, a bit of evolution going in there. We need a CM but not because the ones we have are ****, as a couple of cretins on here have claimed, but because we've had two retire. The fact of the matter though is that the two retirees haven't done much over the last three years anyway so the ones we've got haven't done too bad with ONLY Barcelona giving us the absolute run around, and their midfield is about as good as I have ever seen.
We'll see on Gerrard. I could be wrong. I don't think I am but he might come back flying. The difference between Evra and Johnson is fairly obvious in that one is highly successfull and plays in winning teams and the other, well doesn't. If he were that good, he'd have had success. I don't think Evra is world class either, Irwin was twice the player, but he is streets ahead of Johnson.
Your tone comes across as angry and very matter of fact even if that's not how it's meant, which makes what is apparently the evolved topic difficult to debate. Is it worth sticking around to see where this topic evolves next? Perhaps with you going back to your own board and taking your highly biased opinions with you? Fair enough Young being a different type of replacement, but a lack of left sided players surely leaves your options as less balanced. How will the Utd team evolve in response? Could Young evolve his game to incorporate his left foot? I evolve, i don't REvolve! please log in to view this image I'd be more inclined to agree with you if you didn't insist on ramming every point down people's throats like you are the font of all knowledge.
Fergie is worried. You are so right Op, he is panic buying. I can't see him winning the league this season without buying replacements for Giggs and Scholes. He is worried about Liverpool, City and Chelsea who I believe will be a bigger threat if he doesn't panic buy.
I disagree with both your points, I feel Johnson is only marginally worse than Evra defensively, while better than him going forward. I also believe Gerrard will come out firing next season. It's fair to say though that we have our own views and we'll never agree on this so we'll just have to agree to disagree.
I think the problem with our midfield is Fergie's own beligerance. In his eyes Carrick and Fletcher are good enough, so we'll just have to hope that they continue to improve. But it places a heavy burden on the attackers, if the midfielders cannot contribute goals.
Liverpools central midfield is so poor that Steven Gerrard carrying a groin injury and Lucas without trying grabbed Scholes and Carrick by the balls and refused to let go until they turned purple.Aaron Ramsey a rookie midfielder who had just recently come back from injury having been butchered by that no-brained Manc thug Shawcross absolutely destroyed Uniteds wonderful central midfield. Not every team in Europe plays like Schalke for **** sake. Have United strengthened? They signed one necessity.Just one.And he's a rookie.I said all along that I would only be worried about United if they signed the two central midfielders they need,as I feel then they will walk the premiership. If they don't which seems likely. They don't hold any fear for me.They won't have strengthened a glaring obvious position of weakness.Only a complete idiot would claim dross like Carrick and Anderson would strike fear into the opposition. As for Giggs,He should stick to boneing his soon to be ex sister in law.He will be crucified by opposition midfields.Man United have got away for years against lesser opposition like Spurs and Everton due to the strength of their widemen, but the better the opposition will ensure that that is worthless as they will make United play through the middle and then swarm all over them. Only Barcelona gave Uniteds central midfield the run-around.How about Man United at Stamford Bridge in the league.Chelsea bossed the entire second half.It was embarrassing.Arsenal at the Emirates.Aaron Ramsey was clear man of the match as he took the piss out of Man Uniteds central midfield.Liverpool not only beat them,Lucas and Gerrard strangled the living daylights out of them.If those aren't giving the run-around,I don't know what is.Again not every team plays like Schalke by not putting pressure on the ball.
