Poor lad was just too tired to start against Estonia. I bet he'd have played if it was a glamour tie! For me this sums up the whole national set up. Hes arguably our most talented player but his attitude clearly stinks and if it were upto me id banish him from the squad for the next few months. What are peoples thoughts on this?
Few year ago like but David Bentley said the same thing and got absolutely slated from every angle. He wasn't as high profile as Sterling is but he told the U21's he was too tired and never got another game at any level in the national side I don't think. These lads work hard, train hard etc etc AND GET ****ING PAID MILLIONS EVERY YEAR FOR IT! When I was 19, I loved England, the 2 things I would've killed to do were to play for SAFC (firstly) and to play for England. I reckon I could've give them a game yesterday and I'm 39 FFS!

The kid just needs a swift volley round his canister, ****ing useless little ****. What's his assist rate at club and country level? Let's all pretend he's amazing and nothing like Shaun Wright Phillips, for ****s sake. Roy looking to take attention away from himself. Now instead of the media picking on Roy and his crap choices, they are focused on Sterling. Not that Sterling isnt being a little diva who deserves a smack round the head, but it is a clever strategy from Roy to deflect the media 1. Why does Roy let Sterling decide how/when he plays ? Who is the ****ing manager ? 2. Why does Roy insist on playing Sterling (a winger) behind Rooney ? 3. Why does Roy ask Wilshere to play a Defensive/holding midfield role when he isn't one ? 4. Why does Roy refuse to play an england setup with any width or pace ?
tbh imo it was a very brave thing to do, if your not at 100% and thinks he wouldnt proforming to his best then telling the manager is the best thing to do, he didnt say he didnt want to play for england just that he wasnt 100% and was tired! its then up to the manager to decide wether he needs sterling even not at 100% and play him or rest him, up to roy and and should of been kept private, roy telling the press was shocking bit of man management and chucked him under the bus!
Too tired = can't be arsed. Not much debate for me. Like everyone says, playing for England has become devalued. Dropping the little twat would give them all a kick up the rear end, as they'd be thinking if: I'm not here pushing I won't get in at all.

Poor lad did have the world cup though. Two and a bit games to fit in between mid May and mid Aug. Ten games or so this season, bound to take it out of you as the years creep on. If it's mental tiredness, then he should try working shifts and overtime while trying to think of paying the huge electricity bill and feeding the kids tomorrow when the next minimum wage paycheck isn't due until next week.
Just to add... Rooney would be shot in the face on Wembley way if he claimed he was 'too tired' to do his England duties. Preferential treatment for skinny mincer Raheem?
I havent been overly impressed with any england player the last few games. Tbf, none of them seem to know what they should be doing. If Roy has a plan, no one seems to know what it is.

Hodgson said Sterling, 19, complained about fatigue on the eve of the game. "He said, 'I'm feeling tired, I'd rather sit this one out'," Hodgson told BBC Radio 5 live after the 1-0 win. The 67-year-old added: "It's unfair if all the expectations to give the player a little bit of a break fall on me." Sterling came on in the 64th minute for club-mate Jordan Henderson, and was fouled for the free-kick that England captain Wayne Rooney curled into the bottom right-hand corner to maintain England's 100% record after three games in Group E.
