There's a campaign to have a statue erected in Hull... Campaign to honour Ebenezer Cobb Morley founder of the FA and all modern football with a #StatueForEbenezer in his hometown of Kingston Upon Hull. Tweeters can follow the account @ForStatue. please log in to view this image
It's down Fleet Street and was where the Anderton's Hotel once stood . Do not know exactly where. When I have time when we have a match down there I intend to search it out.
Just checked. My memory is fading I think. x is correct and I am wrong. Anderton's Hotel was where the Football League was formed.
It's a 15 year lad who's started this campaign... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Let-...y-Hull-City/story-23185825-detail/story.html?
the council won't agree to put up a statue for this guy......as he is nothing to do with that ridiculous egg chasing game.....I'm sure if he had an hulleffcee connection those two idiots geragthy and Brady would have it built this week
I am not so sure, on twitter last night the campaign was gathering momentum via City of culture 2017 and also the idea of Hull Truck putting on a play celebrating his life during the City of culture year. Credit to the lad getting this going, will be interesting to see where is all ends.
How many Hull FC statues are in Hull exactly? And moving on; the young lad was interviewed on Look North last night. Came across really well, well done I say.
Going a bit off topic but aren't the council looking at moving the statue of William Wilberforce from outside Hull College?
Given the demise and gross underachievement of Rugby League in our great city isn't it time we renamed Clive Sullivan Way as Ebenezer Cobb Morley Way?
Who would know that apart from a few egg chasers along the M62 corridor, and more importantly, who would care?
They actually drew the final but were awarded the cup on results from the other games. Surprised more don't remember it. Massive competition with 4 countries in it. Final played in front of 4,500. Even then England did no good in it, had to rely on Welsh ex union players making up a GB team.
Yes. Morley was born in Hull, Sullivan wasn't. I've seen Sullivan's try in that empty stadium, Morley's legacy is far far greater.
