    Are you taking the piss?

The bar's higher because England's 'best' player is paid £300,000-a-week. The rest of the squad is arguably made up of the Premier League's best English players.

We'll expect the same standards when Hull City have the likes of Rooney, Sterling, Welbeck, Sturridge, Cahill, Hart and Wilshere in the squad.

Honestly, if England don't win all ten games then they've underachieved IMO. There's no reason why they shouldn't be targeting ten clean-sheets as well. They're pretty ****ing terrible, but so are the other sides. The only matches of any remote difficulty should be Switzerland away, an obstacle which they've already overcome, of course, and Slovenia away.

As an aside, it's really sad to see just how average Wayne Rooney is at times these days. Go back ten-years to Euro 2004 and compare the player you expected him to be today to the player he actually is... Has he matched your expectations? He hasn't mine. Bit strange to say that of someone who's won league titles, domestic and European cups, has a better-than-one-in-two goals-to-games ratio for Manchester United and is only seven goals shy of becoming our record international goalscorer, but it's my opinion. What could have been never was. He's not, and now never will be, a true great.

Beating the football powerhouses ( not ) of Switzerland, San Marino and Estonia. 3 wins in a row and its our best winning run in 5years, that says a lot. Comparing it to City, if we were to beat 3 league 1 or 2 teams in a row, I would say it would be expected.

Ok maybe Switzerland could be deemed to be championship level.

More pertinently, Estonia's players are generally lower Championship/League One level.

Exactly. We'd all be complaining about City's performance if we only managed a one nil win against a 10-man Chesterfield in the League Cup.

I know England can only beat the teams in front of them, but you would expect them to beat the likes of Estonia with a bit more tenacity.

"Rodney" ... that's pretty funny! Is that a new nickname for Shrek that I've managed to avoid seeing, or did you make it up yourself?

I always thought Peter Crouch to be more Rodney like.

Played 3...won 3....Eh but the last two versus teams who would struggle to beat North Ferriby FFS, plus a win versus a Swiss team who are in transition.

Why do I think Euro 2016 finals are going to be another massive disappointment!!

We only beat 9 man Sunderland 1 nil and didn't even score when they where down to 9
We almost drew the game in fact when Johnson broke through at the end

Yeah, I remember that game, we were rubbish.

Sunderland finished above us by the way.

    What's your point?

    I know, I was there.

It was a pretty poor performance.

Germany lost to Poland. Spain were beaten by Slovakia. Holland were losing to Kazakhstan for an hour the other day ffs.

How can it be a negative that were beating **** teams while better sides than us are losing to **** teams? If 'only' scoring 8 goals so far is disappointing then which countries have done well? If the answer is none then perhaps the expectations are a tad unrealistic.

It's blatantly obvious that one or two on here make their minds up ahead of England playing that they're going to be outraged at the performance. There's even posts on the first page of this thread declaring how **** were gonna be. Same as when a squad is picked: if it's just big club players they moan about that, but if the likes of Delph are included they moan about that too. Hodgson has the hardest job in football trying to please some of you.

Pumpkin pie is brilliant, though I waited 25 years before first finding the nerve to try it. Pumpkin cookies are ace, too!

Because England do not beat major teams at major tournaments and haven't done so for over a decade. I don't see that run ending at Euro 2016.

    PLT.

Germany, Spain, Holland, France and even Portugal can be forgiven for getting beaten by inferior teams once in a while because they deliver when it matters.

They get to semi finals, finals and win major tournaments. We are a million miles away from that.

We struggle against ten men Estonia and you try and defend Woy?

Glen Hoddle wasn't so forgiving and he knows his onions. He called it for what it was, poor.

I want England to do well,I think we all do but you can't polish a turd.

I used to go in the early 90's when there was 30 odd thousand at Wembley so I hope you aren't aiming your comments at me from upon your high horse.

Yes Switzerland who got further than England at the World Cup, the same Switzerland who where in the top ten in the world in the past year who have some very good players who have performed well in Bundesliga and Serie A.

Criticize the teams in our group, they are awful but to compare Switzerland to Championship is daft.
