I find life more tolerable if put faith in my family and friends, sometimes by the kindness of strangers, sometimes nature, independant people with free will and cycles of life which is proven to predate all religion.
I agree. Science relies on assumptions, theories and constants that most often, do not universally exist, also, the Scientific Method is flawed at every level and Science by its nature does not include truth, nor define knowledge -hence belief in Science is all you are left with Humanity progresses via uncertainty more than dogma.
I have a perfectly open mind, that open mind allows me to see that God was created by man, not the other way around. Dear me your life must be horrible if you have to "tolerate" it. Me I enjoy life, I embrace it and don't have the fear of being abandoned to hell by a sky fairy at the end of it for any mistakes I have made.. What a load of bollocks. Hahaha you amuse me, "Loving Creator"? Please show me where this "love" is with hard facts not fairy tales. This creator you speak of is the most evil vindictive being that has ever been invented. I don't get your point about seeing God in wormholes? Am I missing something obvious here? I do see your point in seeing God as an arsehole mind!
That first bit's fine if it works for you. I'm not trying to convert you to my beliefs, I'm just stating an alternative point of view - and getting on the end of a lot of hostility for daring to do so. Interested to know what predates religion though, because I'm pretty sure every culture since the dawn of time has had some sort of a belief system that is spiritual in nature.
I'm not, I have consistently and explicitly stated that Science by it's very nature cannot deny the possibility of the existence of a supreme being and I accept the ontological claim of the few scientists who do. On the other hand, you seem to have a less open and more dogmatic view on the nature of our world
I'm not religious in the slightest but I'm with you Indie. Anything is possible, we constantly invalidate what we 'know to be true' through science and have done since the dawning of man kind. There could indeed be a god for all I know but we defiantly have a creator, weather that's a higher being with a contentious mind and powers to manipulate his creation, an experiment left to run it's course, or just a reaction of gasses i don't know, it's all philosophy init, Science gives us no answers, just the next clue to the next step in a never ending puzzle. It's the false god scenario that gets me. Everything man claims to know about god is 100% complete fabrication. That's fact. Faith built round ideals fabricated by man. It's delusion. Believing in god is fine, claiming to know to him is bordering on madness imo.
everything before conscious human mind professed to know their god on a personal level. Forget Christianity when the gospels were penned, but lets go back earlier, when primitive cave men told their tribesmen how to stop the ball of fire in the sky from getting angry. Everything think you know came from the mind of a human being, not your god. See post 92 for where I stand.
Maybe so, but any logical endeavour to validate the existence of God can be restated for the existence of the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus in the sense that such things can never be proven yet people know of their reality through personal experience. In both belief structures they aim to create better behaviour by creating belief in a tangeable thing that can only exist in our conscious mind. But seeing as you asked, I believe the afterlife, God, ghosts, a creator etc to fictional and religion is merely an ethnic collective statement of delusion. You carry on believing or defending your faith -its fine by me; what I have outlined here are my beliefs and I can be far more expansive on the issue if you wish, however I do assume you accord me the same courtesy.
Oh dear very poor. You quite clearly have no idea what you're talking about and making crap up. You spout ridiculous **** about seeing God in wormholes and a loving creator. Yet have no way to back it up, apart from your indoctrinated belief, from stories made up by illiterate goat and camel herders. Give me one instance of this loving creator!
I already did. I see god in a wormhole. Both the ones in space and the ones you see on the beach. I'd probably even see god in you, if I ever met you. And if you spoke to me in real life the way you have done on here, I'd have to pray for tolerance just to stop myself knocking you out. Brother.
