Rather than giving him an England shirt, should Tubby Lambo be put out to graze now?

Obviously now a bit part player with the Scousers, should he be put out of his misery and retired gracefully?

I heard that Liverpool have had record pie sales at Anfield since his rather popular transfer!<laugh>

There is no intentional reference to pony fiddling in my grazing reference<whistle> <laugh>

    You are a wag, SB3 <laugh>

At least Roy resisted the opportunity of bringing him on tonight at San Marino - I thought the introduction of the three second half substitutes (especially the ex Pompey kid Oxlade-Chamberlain) made us play more convincingly <ok>

I thought it was the presence of 3 Saints Academy players which coincided with an uplift in performance? <whistle>

Luckily Oxo never played for his birth town (being at Saints since the age of 7)- it shows.<ok>

Thought Callum Chambers was very average at right back, and "Oxo" didn't play for his adopted town for long before he was sold to the Gunners by their feeder club, did he ? They have already snaffled up Theo, Oxo & Chambers from you, the next one will be Schneiderlin. It's only a matter of time :emoticon-0158-time: before Arsene 'phones Dutch Ronnie :emoticon-0129-call:to complete the deal.

Very true anti. Bit worrying though, having all your most promising youngsters "nicked" by bigger clubs at will. Both Liverpool and Arsenal are benefitting from your willingness to readily let them go :emoticon-0112-wonde

I think its a given that we are a selling club and if the price is right as was in all the sales this past off season that's just the way it is however unfortunate - I think that once you get your head around that fact its easier to cope with - I would love all of them even Lambo to have stayed but the lure of CL and the brighter lights seems to dazzle - even though we lost some very good talent we seem to have bought well and although the present league position is flattering and I don't think sustainable the sinking of SS Southampton hopefully has been averted<cool>

Once again your interest in football ( or should I say lack of it ) lies outside your own club again sb3, I can't think why when your doing so well in what league is it now ? Still it keeps your wag Woops happy lol

Actually Possum it is my team, as its the National England team, whom I follow avidly, so much so that I have put my money where my mouth is following them in the Euros and more recently for a month in Brazil, (had to stay on as we expected to get further).

Did you enjoy watching the World Cup from where you probably watch all your football, your armchair?<whistle>LAP <laugh>

That's funny sb3, when was Liverpool your national team lol
I actually didn't enjoy watching England at all as I thought the management was worse than our team, but watch I did and from the comfort of my local, standing room only unfortunately.

They made hard work of it tonight, Rooney's goal was excellent, he's not far off Lineker and Bobby Charlton now, so maybe some of the stick he gets is a little unfair.

    Hmm, Gonna cost him!

As for Oxo, maybe you think the accident of his birthplace is more relevant than the 10 years development at Saints? (£15m wasn't bad for a League One club ...covered the cost of the purchase of the club by Markus:emoticon-0148-yes:)

Funnily enough, since selling Oxo we have gone relentlessly upwards. I would also suggest that 16m for our "very average" second choice right back wasn't too bad either. <whistle>
On a serious note, despite Chambers being 2nd choice right back at Saints, and Clyne playing out of his skin, the fact that Chambers plays centre back for Arsenal means that he is chosen by the England managerial genius at right back.. Maybe it's the booking-a-game record which has impressed Woy?

I always enjoyed watching his dad Mark play, Ox is probably more in the mould of his Uncle Neville strong and direct, whereas his dad was like a ghost, one of the most skillful players he was so light on his feet.

Talking about "Tubby Strikers", I just saw the Pompey goals on South Today, there was this one player that quite literally overshadowed everyone else.
I'm guessing it is this guy....
