Thought we played well defensively and Hennessey was excellent. If he hadn't been we'd have lost by two goals at least. Bale is a class above everyone though and we'll struggle if he's injured during this campaign. When we were pressing Bosnia first half we were better but no team can keep that up for 90 minutes. As others have said of Allen and Ramsay had played we might have had more of a potent threat. Two shots on target at home isn't usually going to win you many games. 3 points is a must on Monday.
we didnt utilise bale enough. long balls to an £85m front man is a strange tactic….. the players should have been looking to pass it to feet at every opportunity. also, james collins should just retire from internationals, sick note pulled out again and will be back playing for west ham next week. surprisingly, there was a shocking performance from ben davies. nervous, panicky and thank goodness he had some experience next to him in williams otherwise it could have been much worse. yes he was playing centre back but there is no excuse for some of the mistakes he made which were down to nerves…. he plays for spurs? he's taken about 10 steps backwards in no time at all. but at least he turned up, unlike collins…….. great atmosphere though
Not sure I watched the same game. Davies and Williams got through a huge amount of work thanks to bewilderingly poor games by Gunter and Chester (I see some Cardiff based outlets are giving these two 9 out 10 for their performances!!!). Ben also had a missing left back to cover and none of the back line could claim to have defensive support in front of them. As you point out, Davies was also filling in at an unfamiliar position against some very skilled players. As good as the other Williams was going forward, I did spot him calling for and having the ball played to him but he'd already made his move away hence the pass looked poor (Ben got caught twice as did Williams and King.)
Have you got to have a kick at Neil at every opportunity? Neil played well last night, Ben was a frigging shambles and a shadow of himself, especially second half.
Agreed Valley. Taylor was very good I thought and worked ever so hard. I also think Chester had a decent game but faded late on. We did OK considering Bosnia are a World Cup side with bags of talent (the Cyprus result was a freak) and we had two of our better players missing in Allen and Ramsay.
I have no idea how Ben Davies is rated. There a million footballers like him. I can see physically he's got height and speed.
I have acknowledged Taylor played well but he did drift in field quite a bit to cover the same space as Davies or Ash rather than keeping wide and keeping shape - the difference between a four and five man back line and exactly what he does at Swansea leaving the wide left open to attack after attack after attack. If I was having a go I'd have mentioned the very reckless foul that got him booked could have been a sending off with another ref. But he may have decided the ref last night wasn't going to send anyone off and the risk was calculated. But I didn't.
a Million? Height - at 5' 11" he's not tall Fast - one of the things those who took against him always claimed was his lack of speed. Three out of three
Went to the game last night... missed the first 10 minutes due to traffic like most people I think..... but nevertheless good performance from the boys, one of the best atmospheres at a Wales game I have ever seen! going again on Monday come on!!!
