Not bad for a player who some don't rate that much SEB Larsson is poised to equal a Sunderland club record if he plays in two international matches for Sweden this week. The midfielder has earned 36 international caps during his time at Sunderland. And should the former Birmingham City man play against Russia tonight and Liechtenstein on Sunday, with both Euro 2016 qualifiers being staged in Stockholm, that will take him to 38 â equalling the club record held by âKingâ Charlie Hurley. Hurley won 40 caps for the Republic of Ireland in total, with only the first and last of them not coming while he was wearing Sunderland colours at club level. The Roker Park legend took much longer to amass his haul at a time when fewer international games were played. The caps he picked up while a Sunderland player were earned between 1957 and 1969, while Larssonâs 36 have been accumulated in just three years, since leaving Birmingham on a free transfer in 2011. Larsson already holds the Sunderland record for most caps picked up in a single season â 13 in the 2011-12 campaign. If he plays tonight, that will take his tally to 37, the same as Kevin Kilbane, before drawing level with legend Hurley if he features on Sunday. Should he then play in Swedenâs next international, against Montenegro in mid-November, he will be out in front as the Sunderland player to earn most international caps while with the Wearsiders. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...-set-to-equal-sunderland-cap-record-1-6885752
Think he set 2 goals up in his last game so hes more productive for Sweden than he is for us. I cant stand him as a player personally. Just watch him closely he's dire. He waits for someone else to do things he should be doing then if they dont has to run 20 yards to clean up a mess he created. Some people seem to mistake this as "works his bollocks off".
Personally agree Lost his dead ball ability which was what originally why he was in the team Very very average player, personally think having Giacc/Gomez in the midfield three including Rodwell and Catts would allow them to press forward and help in the attack Having Rodwell and Catts as your defensive/box to box I dont think Larsson actually has a role in the team
He splits opinion our Seb mind. I see (most of the time) exactly what you see parker - but then occasionally he'll show glimpses of what he can do. He can ping a pass, he can shoot and he has a decent set piece on his day - those days are too few and far between at the moment. But he also does a lot of "dirty" work in midfield. Breaking things up and he does read the game - but the amount of pointing and shouting he does when he should be tracking! And I agree totally with what Captain America says above
Seb's general play is not all that good and he is slow/one paced...however atm he is the only person who is capable of taking a dead ball kick, when he goes off and say Johnson takes over, we cannot hit a corner to beat the first man, it goes into the goalkeepers hands or is overhit...
Every corner I have seen Seb take since Wickham's goal against Cardiff hasnt beat the first man... And before that goal I cant even think of a good cross he has came out with... He passed to Gomez for Fletchers goal against Stoke... I agree Johnson is also ****e at set-pieces but at least he has scored a couple of free kicks recently Personally I would let Gomez take a couple and see what he can do, was fantastic in pre-season Free-kicks I would like to see, if playing, Jozy given the opportunity purely due to this... In Dubai on Holiday with the family at the moment and was in a cab going past a hoarding advertising international football, and who should be front and centre but our Sebastian. Naturally he was in the yellow of Sweden but his spunky blonde quiff was unmistakable. Love him, or loath him....he was one of Gus' chosen few last season to keep us up so he gets my vote.
Lunging tackle almost certainly to be followed by his classic "hands in the air, what was that for ref" pose
