QPR hero Rodney Marsh believes that Harry Redknapp needs to bring in three quality players in January to avoid relegation following their “pathetic” performance against West Ham over the weekend.

The Super Hoops sit at the foot of the Premier League table after seven games thanks to their woeful -11 goal difference – the worst in the division – with many tipping them for an immediate return to the Championship.

QPR invested in a few big name players over the summer – namely Leroy Fer and Sandro – but the transition back to top flight football was made all the more difficult by the permanent exit of Loic Remy and the failure to land Fabio Borini from Liverpool on deadline day.

And Marsh believes that chairman Tony Fernandes and Redknapp have to work together to improve the situation in the New Year or face relegation:

“Pathetic is one word [to describe it] but I will add embarrassing,” he said when asked by talkSPORT about the 2-0 loss at West Ham. “Tony Fernandes needs to look at the transfer window. We will be in trouble at Christmas and Harry Redknapp must add three players who will get the team out of this relegation battle. There needs to be changes, I look at the players like Leroy Fer, is he capable of pulling you out of a relegation battle?

“Sandro was bought in to show some fight but isn’t. To me he looks like a red card waiting to happen every time he plays. I’m very, very disappointed in QPR and I can’t see how they will dig themselves out of this hole. Who can they sign to change the team? The only person to show a bit of fight is Joey Barton and he’s not playing.”

QPR’s are set to take on Liverpool, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester City in their next four games, and Marsh believes that things will not be getting better at Lofts Road in a hurry:

“Even if we get three points out of the next 12, Rangers are still bottom of the table.”

 

Why not just sign another 6?

That always helps us doesn't it?

Forget about more signings. Get the frigging guys we have to put in a shift first.

 

A few thoughts on the shy and retiring Mr Marsh's comments:-

1) We've gone from more reds than the Kop last Prem campaign to barely any tackles and so Sandro is the least of my worries (until he does get sent off). He's one that Arry has worked with before and so, between those two, they need to sort out any issues.
2) Without any improvement in the matchday performance, what 3 signings (and in what positions) could possibly make a difference. Either the team improves or we'll be so far gone that we should actually start the clear-out to preserve the pennies by January.
3) The prospect of having the three signings made by Arry after Christmas, without any marked upturn in fortunes (read effort, tactics, cohesion) fills me with such a feeling of resignation that I can barely imagine even switching on the scores on a Saturday (although I'm sure I would). I still think they're decent players but they clearly are either stymied by lack of motivation or indecision or are genuinely lazy - either way, they need a rocket up their posteriors.

I won't linger on my thoughts of our illustrious manager but he clearly has a lot of friends in the industry since nobody (pundits, former players etc) seems to question his tenure even if these doldrums last indefinitely.

 

Don't throw good money after bad.

Assuming the usual 31.1.15 deadline nonsense, there are some winnable games in February on but I fear may be too late. Burnley and Stoke away in Jan 15 with Swans and Man U at home!

Basically, whoever he is getting needs to come on 1.1.15 and not at the end.

But there is dedication in the squad. After the Stoke game Redknapp said on telly that Nico constantly practices his free kicks in training. Unfortunately Nico himself then said he didn't. Perhaps he took a couple when Redknapp last took a training session.

Van der Vaart really loved Redknapp - no tactics and very relaxed training. "It's not that we do nothing - but its close to that"

I imagine that Tony must be seriously thinking about the severe consequences of relegation, where if he doesn't pony up £40 million in fines we could potentially find ourselves in the Conference, the equivalent of Rangers, now slowly making their way back to top level, season by season. Perhaps we would actually build a team that route.

QPR warned to comply with Financial Fair Play rules or face possible extinction

Rangers have been warned that if they fail to comply they could be refused entry into the Football League if they are relegated.

QPR face putting their future in jeopardy if they are relegated from the Premier League this season.

Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey has warned the R's that if they refuse to comply with a huge expected fine for breaching Financial Fair Play rules, then they risk being refused entry back into the Football League - which could leave the club facing meltdown.

The west London club are expected to have made losses of around £60million last term - when they were promoted from the Championship - and could face a fine of £40million for their failure to comply with FFP.

I read today that Harry is planning to get Defoe and Adebayor in January. It'll be way too late by then!!

 

Rewind 24 months and it was Samba and Remy were going to be our saviours

 

But they've ditched all the discipline they use when gambling in their field of expertise. Fernandes doesn't just take a punt on buying 15 Airbuses without an exhaustive risk benefit analysis, business plan, contingency plan and insurance. But for us he'll trust an illiterate like Redknapp to stuff cash in the pockets of his mates for no return c.f. Rio Ferdinand. He'll say yes to Hughes needing two international (ish) goalkeepers.

For people who have learnt their lessons and are not going to repeat the same mistakes, it sure seems like we have been here before.

 

After more than a couple of months off injured, Defoe started for Toronto FC against Houston this evening - looks fairly fit, some good running off the ball, but missed on a couple of opportunities he might have scored on - TFC are fighting to secure a playoff spot with only 4 games still to play in the regular season.

Houston 1-0 up now after 35 mins, after TFC central defender "muscled" off the ball in the build-up (where have we heard that complaint before?).

Cold, windy, and pouring with rain now - W12 must seem quite peachy for Defoe.

Houston player on the goal line just saved the day after a goal bound header from a TFC corner - can someone explain to me why we never do that? Actually header from the same TFC player (Haagland), who coughed up the ball for the Houston goal, so he almost redeemed himself.

60 mins - Defoe just missed a penalty kick (was a good save) after Luke Moore was tugged back when in on goal and the Houston player was red carded - unfortunate miss for him, seemed undecided as to where he was going to place his kick - also a long delay before taking penalty as Houston argued over the red card.

If TFC lose tonight, their playoff hopes (3 pts behind final spot) take a definite hit - perhaps TFC will will release him early if they don't make it, so we can get him fully fit for January?

TFC lose 1-0 in a vital playoff match - playing at home, star man Defoe misses a penalty, in 37 mins cannot score against the 10 men of a side 4 pts behind in the playoff race - lots of opportunities, but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net - all sounds so familiar.

Perhaps Defoe will be joining us early if TFC don't make the playoffs.

 

Shock horror, Rodney friggin Marsh has a go (again) at his former club.

I am sick of him having a go at us. Wish he'd shut the fukk up and stay in Florida.

 

TF will be walking away from another failed project, leaving someone else to pick up the pieces, he seems to do big success or big failure nothing in between.

 

What is it about our club that attracts and then provides final pasture and a big pay-day for these older, over the hill injury prone players......Luke Young, Dyer, Hulse, Park, Johnson, Zamora, Rio, Sandro + now Defoe, Adebayor, Van der Vaart mentioned?

Ditto for our coaching staff.

Niko would appear to be the exception - £10 million for Sandro!
