Call me soppy but I like the story it tells. If my life ended up like Desmonds, nice wife, nice family, simple pleasures, happy times, I'd be ecstatic.
Aye, fair point there like marra, nee bother, just not my cup of tea. I love a song that tells a story. Elanor Rigby & Penny Lane from the Beatles. But there's loads of great songs from other bands & singer/songwriters that do it. I like that. Don McClean's American Pie had one of the most cryptic, convoluted plots ever. I've tried to decypher it as many people have. I leave it to my own interpretation but I do like the song. The Bruce Springsteen album Nebraska was cracking. Every song tells a story & you can tell he never forgot his working class upbringing in New Jersey. I love my music, I wish I'd learned to play an instrument when I was younger.
What do you think about this version done by me in my bedroom https://soundcloud.com/maddisongs Also later on Bizarre knives mentions A day in the life which I've also done.
I was about to have a listen as I respect anyone who'll put anything out there like that... Then I saw you'd done a Phil Collins cover.
Too many, don't have an outright favorite but my favorite album is the Magical Mystery Tour. 1. Magical Mystery Tour 2. The Fool On the Hill 3. Flying 4. Blue Jay Way 5. Your Mother Should Know 6. I Am the Walrus 7. Hello Goodbye 8. Strawberry Fields Forever 9. Penny Lane 10. Baby You're A Rich Man 11. All You Need Is Love What a track list.
Fair play mate, I'm not a critic by any means, I respect anybody who can make their own music, even better if it sounds good!
Helter Skelter & Dear Prudence cos they're the only Beatles covers I've ever played and cos Siouxsie & The Banshees also covered them both.
I was going include these two with PS I love you, Come together and Hey Jude, there are too many to chose from, strangely, I don't think any Beatles numbers feature in my top 10 tracks of all time.
, These and also Something by Harrison. Loved the tale of Sinatra doing a concert in New York and introduced his next song which was Something and apparently said "this is the best love song Lennon and McCartney ever wrote", of course it was George who wrote it and was also sat front row in the audience. Pass me that shovel.
