He started his managerial career quite well, shame its gone off the tracks a bit in the last few years, hopefully he has got a fresh start here and some patience.
Although this current squad of players are probably the most skilled bunch to have had the pleasure of wearing the famous black and amber strip, Brabs was probably part of the most committed team of Joyce's 1998 team. Good luck Brabs. Aye
Also one before him C.T. - George(Spud) Murphy who played 1 season in 47/48 at centre forward. Once from a corner I saw him put the ball in the net together with the goalie, centre half and fullback! He scored 9 goals from 15 appearances but his style of play was not liked by Raich Carter and he was moved on.
I never saw Murphy BMB as that was the season before I started going to BP but he must have been like the great Nat Lofthouse who I did see and who sadly died recently. Lofthouse was a terror on GKs and was notorious for shoulder charging them in to the net, which was quite legal, when they went up for high balls. A great player to watch!!
I appreciate there might be several candidates. Several that I never saw. But I refuse to believe that there could be a harder professional footballer than Billy Whitehurst.
