That's the name of a show that was running on Radio 4 a while ago. When someone posted about X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent on another thread, it got me thinking. I've never seen BGT or X-Factor; nor have I seen Celebrity Come Dancing or Pop Idol, nor I'm a Celebrity - Get Me out of Here. But then - I've never seen Star Wars either. Anyone else never seen any of the popular crap?
There's loads of popular crap I've never seen, including a lot of what you said. But log off here and go watch Star Wars. All of them. It'll change your life.
Stanmeister I've seen most crap tv out there. Now go watch Star Wars. Episodes 4, 5 and 6 but which were released 1st, 2nd and 3rd starting 1977 IIRC. Don't bother with the others.
If we're going on about popular stuff, I've never watched Titanic. Mainly because it looks ****ing ****e.
Oh and remember to ignore all the people who tell you to reject the newer films. You can patiently explain to them why they're wrong after you've watched them all.
They really arent, and despite my interest I've never heard a reason why they're so hated. I can only put it down to the "It'll never be as good as in my day" factor.
While I never professed to hate 1-3 there are two things that I recall. Jar-Jar Binks. Why? Seriously. Why? The lad who played Anekin. Shocking interpretation and acting, making one of the main character in Episodes 2 and 3 irritating and destroyed the movies for me.
As said, episodes 4-6 are great, but I got into it as a kid, not sure how a seasoned adult like you Stan would take to it. Also, as said, the other episodes are ****e and I can't even remember what happens in them (I think I stopped watching one of them too about half hour from the end). As a kid I was took to pictures to see Empire and Return of The Jedi – quality at the time. I had virtually all of the figures and crafts – which were stupidly all given away in the late 80s. I seem to remember Empire taking an absolute ice age to be released to video - I'm sure even Return was released before it. Empire was my favourite of the trio and I was very young when I saw it at the pictures. I'd guess that it was about 1986 before it came out on video. Then the ****ing video shop only had one or two copies, so patience was required. Back then you could reserve it, then some **** would be late in taking back which would completely screw up your plans. I remember an enthusiast (someone who took the entire thing too far) I knew claimed that Chewbacca was supposed to be circa 1,000 years old and that in some story or other, he dies in some sort of routine spaceship docking accident. I’ve never bothered checking if this is correct but I like it all the same.
How do any of you know any of that is crap if you've never seen any if it? That's some ****ed up opinion forming.
I think Episode VII coming next year will be better than 1-3, but will still be far behind Empire, easily the best of the 6 and one of the best movies ever made.
