What do you want to see before you make up your mind out of interest? I don't think the comparison to Bruce is fair, they're worlds apart for me tactically, but I'd agree that the evidence on Poyet isn't conclusive by any means.
That's not taking anything else into consideration though is it? If CHelsea or Man City sit third all season then win their last 5 games to win the league do you think "that's a rubbish season because we were only third until 5 games from the end"? Poyet saved a dying club last year - he did and said exactly what was needed at the right time. You can sod your own "keep the faith" but most on here have a lot of faith in the club - irrespective of what happens on the pitch - I will keep the faith in the club I love. I can also see we have a manager in charge who may be destined for bigger and better things than Sunderland. He has a strategy and a plan in place for the club and they are playing, bar none, the best "football" since the days of Quinn and Phillips and, barring those 2 seasons, the best I've seen for most of my life. Not winning is one thing, playing well and trying to have a football philosophy is something we haven't seen for as long as I can remember
I think he has done well, so I expect improvement as the season goes on, I still think we need a decent striker in January, I have doubts about Wickham and Fletcher scoring consistently, how we finish end of the season will be the proof of the pudding.
I'm with Relic here mind. Far too early to say. But I have to say he does look like he is learning as he goes and I'm pleased to see he admits when he cocks up. He also seems to have a plan B, but I would like to see him going all out for it, when we have nothing to lose by going for it. He still makes decisions that surprise me, keeping Larsson, playing him then seeing he is the weak link and substituting him. If he does have to play him he should be brought on as a sub when the game is won. Bridcutt is another, probably a good footballer down the leagues where he isn't under constant pressure like the Prem. Far too lightweight for the Prem imho. With our squad I would prefer Poyet to have a reasonably settled starting eleven for most games. We haven't got the strength in depth for lots of chopping and changing. The top teams can mess about as they have world class players to bring on.
I dont think Gus is a tinker man, once he gets his team sorted he sticks to it and makes few changes.. No one gets everything right and we all have our own opinions about the lineups especially when results are disappointing, but in Gus we have a young Manager with great potential and we should all be pleased with what we have seen so far. Onwards and upwards, slowly but surely, its all we can ask for, remember we are Sunderland.
Exactly right. Doing things the right way takes time. Not easy with the pressure and expectancy to perform AND get results almost immediately
I like him. Even when the team doesnt do so well im still impressed with poyet. He says the right things and is honest. If he was to leave right now we'd be ****ed in my opinion
Wouldn't swap him for any other manager in the league...he's a class act who will only continue to improve!
